Alternate Ending to Season One
Stede wasn’t the best with directions… Maybe he got lost on his way to the dock? Maybe Stede had more things to bring with him than Ed had originally thought and was weighed down, walking slower. Maybe he was waylaid by his habit to take in the “insane foliage” everywhere they went? Maybe Stede was still asleep? He did sleep quite heavily, only cannon fire it seemed would wake the man.
Maybe Stede hadn’t shown up on purpose…?
Even though the Gentleman Pirate had awoken the long forgotten soft side of him - with kind words and lingering glances and soft touches and a softer kiss - he was still a man of action.
And act he fucking would.

Summary
Stede is an ex-novice monk who has forsaken his brotherhood and freed a demon in the process—Leviathan, legendary Serpent of the Abyss, Prince of Envy, Hellmouth, Guardian of the Hellgates, and the Ending of All Things.
But Stede just calls him Ed, the love of his life.
They're finally free of the monastery, but the question remains of what to do next. Ed has always wanted to be human, but even in his explorations of Earth he hasn't found a way to change his nature. Stede would love nothing more than to be with Ed forever, to explore the parts of himself that are drawn to the infernal forces beyond the bounds of Earth, but he's limited by his own mortality.
What does forever look like between a man and an immortal demon when death could separate them at any moment? Ed and Stede will travel into the depths of Hell itself to find out.
