    “He was diagnosed a little over a year ago,” Phil says. “He has FND- that’s functional neurological disorder. It’s been a lot.”
    Kristin nods, opening her mouth to speak.
    Techno makes a sound like the air’s been knocked out of him, his head tipping back as though it’s being pulled by the hair, all his muscles visibly tensing. His eyelids flutter open, eyes rolling back as his whole body tenses for a few seconds. Relaxes, and tenses again immediately.
    He’s not breathing.
    Wilbur panics. “What’s happening?” he asks, voice pitching up.
    “He’s okay,” Kristin murmurs, stroking Techno’s hair. “He seizes in his sleep sometimes, that’s why he sleeps in our bed with us. It’ll pass in a minute.”

    Techno slammed his fists against the transparent wall of his prison, trying his best to break it down. His captors backed up, whistling anxiously to each other.

    He gave the barrier another loud crack, delightedly watching as they scrambled away in abject terror.

    Nodding in satisfaction, he turned around to meet the eyes of two other prisoners that had been thrown into his cell.

    He froze.

    Right.

    There were now aliens in his cell.

    And he probably just scared the hell out of them.

     

    Or: Humans are a dangerous race feared by all on an intergalactic scale. Techno, a human ex-soldier that was abducted by aliens 18 months ago, is biding his time in captivity.

    This changes when two young aliens are sent into his cell to die.
