He extended his arm up in a wordless offering, the blunt held between his pointer and middle finger, the end smoldering red.

Disaster struck the Kagehira family one winter night. As the snow piled outside the windows and the wind rattled the small cabin, three shots rang out and killed Mika’s mother and sister both. NOTE: Mika is 7 and grows to the age of 15 during the story's course. Eichi starts at 22 years and is 30 at the end. Other characters have had their ages modified.
