"When Pearl had first floated the idea of a Soup Group sleepover, early into Season 9, Gem had been ecstatic.
It had been great, lots of fun and a real bonding experience for the three of them. Gem was even relatively normal about her totally-not-a-crush on Pearl, and Impulse only made fun of her for it the next morning as they left Pearl’s starter base. The two had quickly come to the realization that they were both interested in Pearl when they had decided to base together, and from there had made it sort of a friendly competition to see who she would choose.
Pearl suggested another sleepover, and another, and from there, it became tradition.
The problem started when Pearl started falling asleep first."
