Summary
Canon Divergence -It was Jack that set up BB and Stede to the British. After banishment Izzy has been miserable and trying to drink the hurt away. Once he realizes that isn't working he is ready to beg to rejoin the Revenge. He finds out about Jack's plan but is captured before he can warn them. Story starts after Ed and Stede are taken away.
Izzy knows that he doesn't belong on the Revenge, he really does, but where else does he have to go?
Anyone can see that there has always been something broken about Izzy, but since Ed was taken its different. There is a sense of lost about him that makes Lucius worry when he sees the man staring over the railing into the water below, like maybe he's considering it.
Awkwardly the crew talks about it behind Izzy's back, with varying degrees of worry and apathy. Fang says hes taken care of kicked dogs before, aggressive and dangerous because they were so scared and with just some patience and kindness they come around. Lucius thinks it could work with Izzy too, its at least worth a shot. Show him its ok to be soft.
No one thinks about what that will mean for him when Blackbeard returns.
Abuse/Unhealthy is Izzy/Blackbeard, good stuff is Izzy/Lucius

Summary
Bored beyond comprehension, Ryuk decides after seeing what humans do with the Death Note, to experiment with what would happen if a human lived their whole life with access and knowledge of the Death Note. This leads him to find four-month-old Light Yagami, whom he decides to use as his test subject and has a little fun.
Light's parents, as with anybody else, can't see Ryuk and thus think Light is possessed, so while trying to find answers, Soichiro turns to a young cadet for assistance taking care of his son.
Light grows up knowing he is different but rarely bored with Ryuk by his side throughout his whole life and having little interest in using the Death Note, training in Shinigami magic and learning the ways of the world instead. But things become interesting when, after multiple incidents regarding his secret, someone else with the Death Note begins using it as the mass killer known as Kira.
Add in a dumbfounded detective and a task force all aware of Light's situation and far past caring, and Ryuk knows he made the right choice because he's found plenty of entertainment, even though he has to fight the protective instinct he's developed towards Light.
