Twelve years after Treasure Planet, Jim Hawkins has finished training at the Interstellar Academy and has made a name for himself in the Royal Light Navy as a proficient spacer and navigator.
Admiral Blake assigns him and an old friend from the Academy, William Delaney, each several halves of coordinates leading to something the Navy is after.
The ship they are assigned to, The Eclipse, embarks to claim whatever it is the Navy is after, but are plagued by two rival pirate ships also after the same thing.
After several run-ins with Captain Raith of The Buckler, and Long John Silver of The Stargazer, The Eclipse is caught in the cross-fire and takes severe damage. Jim and William have to fight for their lives to reach the coordinates first before they're captured and tortured for the information, or worse.
