Summary
"Sorry I worried you though, birdie," Scar then apologizes, waking up more. His voice still sounds rough, gravely, and low. But at the very least, he's a bit more clear. Scar coughs. "Got a fever 'nd I didn't want to get anyone sick." He pouts then, "Cub strong armed me into staying home 'till I'm better. Caught me patrolling yesterday."
"Scar!" Grian huffs, in pure disbelief. "How in the world did you think going out as Hotguy while sick with a fever was a good idea?"
"Hotguy's needed." Scar shrugs helplessly, and Grian wants to strangle him, actually. How self-sacrificial can one man be?
"Well I need Scar to rest," she sighs, shaking her head. She moves her hand and brushes his bangs back before settling her palm on his forehead, frowning in disapproval. "How are you feeling though? You seemed out of it today and you're really burning up."
Scar is sick and (failing) trying to hide a fever. It backfires.

Both Grian and Mumbo straighten at the sound of the voice. Immediately does Grian find himself leaning into Mumbo's side. “Martyn?!”
“Oh, good, Grian's there too. Hey, listen, are you two free at the minute? I uh… think there’s something I could use your help with.”

Summary
Scar practically deflates when it's just the two of them, setting a hand over his chest. "Oh my god that was stressful," he exhales. "Do you think I oversold it?"
Grian shuts the door behind her as she slowly approaches him, setting her bag down. "What do you think, Mr. 'Is that a new shirt?'"
"I knew I should've complimented his hair instead," Scar clicks his tongue, pouting slightly.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Grian inquires, tilting her head. "I thought you weren't supposed to show up until the afternoon."
Scar walks away from her desk, moving toward her instead. He takes a peek behind her at the door and any potential spots someone could see them. When he finds they have one hundred percent privacy, he slips his arms around her waist to pull her close. "Not happy to see my handsome face first thing in the morning?" he cheekily teases, smirking.

OR, Scar is really bad at being subtle.

Summary
The blush on her face darkens, and she finds it near impossible to properly look at him. “Well, firstly, there’s an undecorated Christmas tree sitting in the closet at my apartment…” Grian manages to quickly glance at him. “Think you could lend me a hand in putting it up? Uhm, I was thinking we could do dinner too. And—" She stops herself before she can ask her second question, the very thought of it making her want to curl up and hide away. It's too embarrassing. Too raw.
She shakes the thought away instead. There's still time to ask him. It doesn't have to be tonight.
If Scar had ears and a tail, she has no doubt they’d be perking right up with the way Scar’s expression brightens. A sheen with excitement covers his eyes, the beginnings of a jovial grin lingering on his lips while he looks at her. “My, Grian. Are you asking me out?” he teases immediately, only worsening Grian’s flushed face.
“I’ll take it back,” she threatens, zipping her bag shut.

Varka smiled down at Lohen sadly. “Then why do you keep such tight constraints on yourself? Tell me, Lohen, for I cannot fathom how someone as strong as you sees themselves as… deserving of punishment despite having shown incredible strength against an enemy that I can swear on my honor that neither I could win against.”
“It’s different,” Lohen began, but his words felt hollow. He repeated, “It’s different.”
“How?”
Lohen could feel the same frustration clawing at his skin when his parents would berate him for going out and coming back bloody. It was something that was wired innately into his being. He needed a stimulus that proved that he wasn’t someone who could be easily stepped over.
“How?” Varka asked again.
Lohen opened his mouth, and it felt as though his tongue had gone dry. He sniffled before turning his head away. “It just is, I don’t know.”
“If you don’t know, then will you let me make the decision for you?” Varka asked.
