This fic is endgame Shěn Qīngqiū/Liǔ Qīnggē/Yuè Qīngyuán.
It takes time for the characters to get together, but there is zero partner infidelity and very little angst. There's lots of pining, but it's happy pining. This is fluff. Everyone is happy and loving and supportive.

During his mission while attending a gala in Fontaine (and very much dressed to kill), Childe unexpectedly runs into a bewildered Zhongli. He decides to have some fun with the ex-Archon just to crack the man’s prim and proper veneer.
Unsurprisingly, he ends up biting off more than he can chew.

A small brown creature tumbles out.
It is a bit smaller than the messenger-raccoon that accosted him early in his hike, with a tail like that of Zhongli’s exuvia. Its eyes are golden, dreadfully familiar, and as it looks up and squeaks in indignation Childe leaps back.
“Zhongli?” Childe asks cautiously.
Childe is assigned to go on a short mission. Zhongli is not happy about it, and takes matters into his own hands—paws.

“Well,” says the scholar with a tone far too cheery for the occasion, “have they sent someone out to search for him yet?”
Oh dear.
“Search for him? Rex Lapis is dead. We can’t search for a dead man!”
The scholar scratches his head. “Yes, as I’m aware. But you do know that our gods do not truly die? They are reborn, just as Lesser Lord Kusanali was after Greater Lord Rukkhadevata’s passing.”
Silence.
Zhongli can hear his peaceful future being whisked away on the sea breeze and he sets his cup down, the taste too bitter to continue.
When the people of Liyue embark on a quest to seek out Rex Lapis' successor, Zhongli becomes entangled in the bizarre series of events, resulting in him leading an expedition to Jueyun Karst in search for...himself?

Summary
Childe smiled at the baby in his arms, his tiny hands moving in grabbing motions as his body contorted in his hold. It seemed like at least someone was happy with their trip.
"Are you excited?" He whispered to his son, tickling his belly just so he could hear another wet giggle.
The baby almost seemed to nod, a trick of his eyes for sure, but it made him smile anyways. "We'll just see doctor Baizhu and, hopefully, no one else." Childe whispered again, more to himself than the baby, but it did not reassure him the slightest in the end.
After keeping their son a secret from Zhongli and any other person besides his family, Childe is left in a dilemma: go back to Liyue, where everything he lived felt like an elaborate lie, to learn why only now his half-adeptus son is growing horns and risk seeing Zhongli again. Or keep hiding himself with Leshy at his family's home in the snowy plains of Snezhnaya.

It was in the mornings, when Childe woke up before Zhongli, stretching in the golden dawn, and realized that this—this quiet, steady life—felt more like victory than any battle ever had.
In which Childe learns that “home” is not a place you conquer, but a place where someone saves your seat.
(Or, the one where Childe accidentally adopts a Yaksha, marries a god, retires from the Fatui, and calls it character development.)
