Summary
This reckless choice wouldn’t have happened if Butcher had acted like he used to - with brutal efficiency and no care for collateral damage. He could have thrown all of his power in one direction, wiped the Supe out and been fine. Hughie might have been close enough for her to hurt him, but she’d still be dead. That used to be Butcher’s way.
This time, Butcher has split his ribcage open to make sure Hughie's out of harm's way. Butcher has vivisected his own heart to save Hughie.
(Post-Season 4 AU - canon diverges from about the time when Butcher gets his Supe powers)

Summary
They were both truly alone, now—"you and me against the world," provided a treacherous little voice in the back of his head, mocking both his promise to Annie and his worryingly intense devotion to Butcher that did nothing but strengthen daily—but no matter how lonely he felt whenever he actually thought of it, he forgot all about that the second he had the burning, overwhelming focus of Butcher’s undivided attention on him.

Summary
“So, I’ve been meaning to ask.” Hughie said hesitantly, fiddling with his mug, watching it intently. “About Ryan.”
I sighed and sat back in my chair. “He’s with Mallory, perfectly safe, as I promised.”
“Yeah, but, it’s different now. I know you don’t know him, but he is B-Becca’s son. And I think it’d be good for you to see him or just talk to him over the phone or something, so he has some kind of connection to her. It could work both ways.”
“Apparently he did ask about me.” I admitted. Hugh perked up, looking hopeful. “Guess it couldn’t hurt to pop round and make sure he really was in a safe location. But you’re coming with then. If things turn tits up it’s your problem to deal with.”
“Fine. Maybe after this assignment?”
“Yeah, alright.”
…
They finish the job soon enough, but then they’re immediately given a new assignment. They’re told it might be nothing.
But when has it ever been that simple for the boys?

Summary
In the swirling dusk of a fractured nation, Hilda and Malthus reunite, their souls like ships adrift on a sea of forgotten promises. The year is 1968, four years after the storm of a military coup tore them apart, severing them from the love they dared not speak. Malthus, once bound by the chains of faith, has since shed the cloak of Catholicism, but the weight of his forbidden desires still clings to him like a shadow.
Hilda, ever the tempest, is a wild force untamed, and yet, in her heart, she harbours a quiet ache for the man she can never fully possess. They dance around each other, their love an unspoken truth, like two stars orbiting a black hole, too afraid to collide but unable to drift away.
Together, they stand at the edge of a precipice, caught between the pull of old passions and the reality of a world that will never be the same. The coup may have fractured their country, but it is their own silences that threaten to tear them apart for good.

Gary hasn’t believed in God in a very long time; in fact, he’s certain there isn’t one. But there has to be some truths in the world, and this has to be one of them.
Gary Barkovitch is normal. And if he isn’t, he’ll break himself until his bones set right.
