Summary
This fic is the slowest of slow burns. It was intentionally written to build gradually as a cohesive narrative that expands over time because you can't get a good emotional release without FOREPLAY.
What if Ed didn't go full 'Evil-Ed' post Stede? How would Izzy react to an Ed that still wasn't quite right even though Bonnet was gone?
What would it be like if they thought Stede Bonnet was fucking dead, but then he wasn't?
Themes include: grief, loss, guilt, forgiveness, hurting people you love, healing, backsliding, the effects of childhood trauma, consent, power dynamics.
There will be no themes of sexual assault/violence in excess of the show.
I'm not over tagging this jawn because I don't want to spoil the whole story ahead of time. Where's the fun if you know half of what you can expect from the tags alone. Don't you just want to let a story unfold, friend?

Summary
After breaking free of his HYDRA programming, James 'Bucky' Barnes finds the world is very different from the one he left. With the help of friends and allies, he's managed to piece most of his memories back together but after the Battle of Earth, he finds himself walking a razor-thin wire. With a therapist who is constantly pestering him, and his childhood friend by his side, Bucky is given a pardon for his past crimes but as a condition of his parole, he needs to have a partner with him at all times.
The only problem is that his new partner is a nightmare.
Elena Constantin is a disaster of a human being in Bucky's opinion. Too hostile, too brash, and certified bat shit crazy not to mention she has a bad habit of stealing his socks but shockingly she's the only person who's not afraid of the parts of The Winter Soldier still lurking inside him. Somehow Elena knew before everyone else that HYDRA was a devil with the power to control a master assassin and they've met before.
As Bucky untangles the thread binding their lives together he finds that trying to live a normal life is way harder than any mission.
