He freezes, staring across the table, his beer inches away from his lips. “What?”
Leon’s expression turns into something he doesn’t particularly like, and something in his stomach twists.
“Do you think I’m hot?”
What feels almost like some kind of malfunction whites out his brain for a moment, and his mouth is open for far too long before he can piece himself together enough to dredge up a reply. Leon watches him silently the entire time, but he doesn’t have the mental capacity to worry about that as he considers his response.
“I don’t…I don’t know. Leon, I’ve known you since we were kids.” He finds it more difficult to speak, heart rate picking up as he sets his beer down and runs a hand over his face, the cool condensation a minor relief against his heated skin.
“Answer the question."

感觉这篇也可以算slowburn，实在太会写拉扯了我膜拜，好想看昂视角😫这篇昂老是让我想到re4昂不知道怎么回事，应该是2昂的奶狗形象才对🤔只能说人物塑造太好，一直觉得原作2和4简直判若两人，主要那种有点爱使坏的狡黠气质在re2完全看不出来啊！但这篇！这篇它做到了！DAMN真的太难得了，激动得我站起来走了三圈 -

Leon never really got art.
Granted, he’s only been to a few museums in his time, but despite that he knows he’s supposed to feel…something when he looks at the paintings and sculptures and tapestries. That it’s all supposed to stir some kind of emotion within him. And it does, it’s just most of the time that emotion is confusion, or mild curiosity, or appreciation for the level of artistry and creativity. Sometimes he's contemplative, but mostly over how in the hell they made the thing. None of it has ever really struck him, or stuck with him in any lasting way.
The sight in front of him will stick with him for the rest of his life.

Leon's spent the last hour watching his target drink and flirt and dance while his hearing slowly goes from the deafening music of this overly-packed club. He wishes that he could have at least picked his own outfit for this mission. People keep staring at him, and he already hates undercover missions enough as it is. They've made it that much harder for him by sticking him into the tightest clothes he's ever worn, and if he has to evade one more person offering to buy him a drink he's going to resort to pretending not to speak English.
The night is slogging on and there's no hope in sight for him to complete this mission easily. At this point, he's hoping for a miracle to come along so that he can get it done quickly and leave this place behind.

"None reported."
The fear abated, quickly replaced by relief. But it was short-lived as something sharp and hot and burning bubbled up within him.
"Leon?"

For a moment, Chris thinks he has the wrong room. He almost goes to check the room number again before his eye catches the blanket crumpled at the foot of the bed, haphazardly strewn over the side and spilling onto the floor. Various leads and sensors from the monitors connect to nothing but the pillow they're resting on, their screens black— no beeps or hums or alarms. An IV line hangs from the bag on the pole and leads his gaze down to the floor where the needle rests in a puddle of fresh blood.
"God damn it, Leon—"

He didn't plan far ahead, just tried to get through the moment until he could crawl back to his apartment, or some seedy bar and drink himself into oblivion. At this point, he didn't even care to keep it a secret anymore, Chris and Rebecca had already seen him like this, drunk, depressed and one more bad night away from shoving his gun into his own mouth. And they decided to take the moral high ground and drag him back into hell with them, so what if everyone knew he was a moody piece of shit? He was still an excellent agent and as long as he finished his missions no one would bat an eye to the mess he made of himself.
