Bruce Banner never gave any thought to having a family after the accident. The Hulk certainly didn't seem the sort to be able to care for a child properly. Betty didn't think that there was a chance for a future with her father always ready to hunt down Bruce. And Loki only wanted another chance to try and get it right this time.
And yet, somehow, put them all together and you have a family that not only works, but has nothing but love and support for one another.

Julien sighs again. The hand stills.
“Well, when I say I have personally rid the world of all Tachonis heirs, I want to be right.”
“My family disowned me,” Occtis replies. Flatly. His family killed him.
“You are still a Tachonis,” Julien retorts, just as matter-of-factly.
This time, Occtis is able to roll over, face to face with Julien. Of all the places he thought he’d end up when Thaisha Lloy had asked for his assistance in Venatus, lying in bed with the notoriously promiscuous Sir Julien Davinos was not one of them. The fact he is here out of choice, and because he wants to be, would have been so far out of believability to be laughable.

Summary
This started with a simple question: what if Light Yagami had the Shinigami Eyes, but instead of seeing lifespans normally, he saw people around him sharing the same death dates. From there it became less about the ability itself, and more about what he would do with information like that, and how he ends up in a position where he’s working alongside L instead of against him.
At its core, this is a character study of a lonely, highly intelligent teenager. Not a redemption arc, not a corruption arc either, just an examination of what happens when someone like that gains too much clarity and not enough distance from the world around him.
