Cross had always been intrigued by the soulmate phenomena and yearned to meet his fated lover, after all, who wouldn’t be curious who was destined to be your complimenting part? Most people around him have found their happiness…Except, to the guard’s disappointment, for him. No matter how much he searched he never seemed to find that mysterious person but he definitely felt their pain.
Killer on the other hand wasn’t that enthusiastic about this whole ‘soulmate’ thing. He was broken and couldn’t even feel physical pain to the full extent like others. He didn’t want to burden whoever was cursed to be bound to him of all creatures, though he still hoped for things to become better.
Usually, it’s quite easy to realize who’s your soulmate. If you’re not Cross or Killer that is.

with how busy everyone had been, managing and merging their worlds with the new peace they had finally achieved, nightmare hadn't had a ton of time for certain enjoyable activities with his mates. as the weeks go on he's winding tighter and tighter, and everyone's waiting for him to explode. luckily, killer hits the emergency button and helps him relieve some of that stress in possibly the most humiliating way.

Ebott City is a massive, sprawling metropolitan that's world renowned and often embroiled in controversy, politics and violence. Everybody knows the gangs run Ebott, many vying for control over their little corners or seeking to claim more territory. Some rule with fear, others with strict order. Authority is either bought out, scared out, or waiting for the opportune moment to unleash their own hidden agendas.
Lower Hazel Ward is controlled by the frightening Monster Nightmare and his gang, and while rumours and tales spread often about the gang's penchant for violence, those living inside the ward are better off compared to most of the other gang-controlled parts of Ebott, and some of the most protected.
After all, Nightmare protects what's HIS.

Cross is only using the Bad Sanses in order to get stronger. He can’t allow himself to get attached. His father is still out there, most likely plotting some new scheme with Ink and Cross can’t allow himself to be complacent.
He has three rules: train as much as possible, don’t let his guard down, and don’t get attached.
The Bad Sanses, however, seem to have no regard for his personal rules and keep dragging him into their shenanigans. Despite himself, Cross finds himself breaking rule number 3. He’s always been a bit soft.

One day, however, Dream's entire world was flipped upside down after his brother went missing in the woods near the village hunting grounds. Presumed dead, Dream gradually came to accept that his brother was gone, mourning his loss like one would mourn their late brother.
Except, Nightmare wasn't dead.
Though the truth of what happened to him may very well be worse in the eyes of many.

Time was running short, the echo of Dream’s terrified scream just now vocalized to his ears, the crescent arc of paint inching closer in his time slowed mind. There was none amongst those trapped behind him that deserved to die for Cross.
If anyone did, it’d be his foolish brother for bringing this situation into being.
When he glanced over one last time, the final time before Cross would become dust, a light tremor shaking Cross’s unstuck skull, he saw the hint of a purple tear and made the choice.
