He hasn’t spared a thought about his saddlebags in ages, probably ever, really. They just migrated from Roach to Roach since he got out on the Path and it’s just how things are and have ever been. It comes as a surprise, then, when on a rather chilly autumn night, as he and Jaskier are settled by a cozy fire, they just seem to explode.

Summary
Jaskier's never been the best at considering consequences, but he's sure it'll turn out fine when he sings Geralt to sleep. He's a good singer, after all—and a siren, which is the bit that'll be a bit more complicated to explain in the morning.
(The murders and the necromancers and the hysterical teenagers only serve to complicate things further, but that's a problem for later on.)

It was a tiny thing, water damaged and well-used, but that didn’t matter much. Walking up to the shelf and taking the book in his hands, Geralt flipped it over and looked at the title. “How to Keep Your-” the next word was smudged, but it looked like “person”. “How to Keep Your Person Happy”.

Geralt finds a “How to Keep Your Puppy Happy” manual, but misreads the title. Thinking he’s been neglecting his human, Geralt takes the both of them up to Kaer Morhen to enlist the help of his brothers in keeping his bard happy!

“You’re making a mistake,” Jaskier says. “Trust me – I’ll be watching Geralt rip out your intestines before all this is over. I’ve seen it before. It’s not pretty.” He draws himself up, shows his teeth. If this is going to go badly, he intends to be as difficult as possible about it.
The alderman glares at him. “Enough of this,” he says, commanding; there’s a heavy dull thud at the back of Jaskier’s head, and a brief burst of pain, and then blackness.
When Geralt is late returning from a hunt, Jaskier’s the one who suffers for it. Things get worse before they get better.

“Oh you b-” Jaskier naked hand is clamping down on Geralt's mouth before he can say anything else and it requires all the strength he now has to keep the witcher from squirming out of his grasp. The witch looks more amused by the second and every inch of her smile seems to make Geralt want to gauge her eyes out with spoons.
“Care to explain?”
“It will pass, less than a full month. How awful can it be?” Jaskier knows he isn't imagining her sneer then.
“Are you serious?” Geralt twitches his mouth out from under the pale hands and spats the question in a high pitched voice that makes the bard cringe on how much it would hurt in the morning."
