He had watched that light dim and harden over the years…and Qifrey feared losing that light more than losing his sight.
With so many things he cannot say, Qifrey writes a letter he never intends for Olruggio to read.

Olrox barely makes it three steps before collapsing against a wall. He grimaces down at the tear in his waistcoat, assessing the damage. He’d be dead already if he were anyone else. As it is, there’s a gruesome rend from his side right through to his spine. Any further and her slash would have cleaved him in half.
Mizrak collapses beside him as soon as he’s within range, distraught tears leaking down his cheeks. All of Olrox burns with the need to comfort him.
‘Don’t cry,’ he chokes out. ‘Just think. This time tomorrow … you’ll have one less monster stalking your path.’
TAGLINE: Olrox is mortally wounded in the final battle instead of Mizrak. Somehow, it leads them to their happy ending.
