Summary
“What are you trying to say? That you don’t believe me? I’m trying, Buck. I’ve been trying so damn hard to make this easy,” Eddie brokenly rasped. “But you’re making things difficult every single time you question if this is what I want.”
He paused for a second, reflecting on what he said next before continuing.
“Why can’t you just trust me, when I say that this is what I want?” Eddie quietly pleaded.
“I trust you to know what you want…I just don’t trust that you’d ever act on it,” Buck plainly stated as his voice grew hoarse with words he didn’t dare say.
Something rattled in his chest and broke free from its cage. He needed someone to believe that this was a good decision. He needed Buck to reaffirm his decision because if someone else repeated the lies Eddie voiced to himself, he could make them real…he could make them believable.

Summary
Eddie marveled at the stone sculptures. Did they desire to live beyond museum walls that were full of crown molding and marbled floors? Or were they content, being captured and immortalized forever in a lover's embrace? He pondered those two questions as Buck stood beside him. Facing the sculpture of two lovers, Buck tilted his head slightly down in Eddie's direction and bumped his shoulder against him.
"You're just like 'em you know."
Fear seized in Eddie's chest as his eyes flickered up to meet his gaze.
With the ghost of a smile on reddened lips - from drinking berry hibiscus tea - Buck continued by saying, "You're softness made of stone."
Then with a reverent observation that sounded like a prayer he added, "And just as beautiful."
OR:
Eddie finds out he can’t outrun his past, but damn does he try. He has to try even harder, when a childhood friend comes to LA bringing with him memories Eddie swore he’d forget.

Summary
When Buck was injected with the “Elixir” serum, his parents thought it would save their ailing son. Instead the elixir flowing through his blood saved the 118. Every time Death dared to step its foot on the floor mat of the 118’s door, there Buck stood with an open wound, withdrawing everything within him to heal them.
Which is why he should've questioned things, when his paper cut didn’t immediately heal within a second. He should’ve noticed the pain in his ribs didn't subside, after two days.
He should’ve taken note of all those changes because now Eddie is there lying on the ground, inches away from him and Buck keeps resting his own wounded palm over Eddie’s injury begging it to close, but it won’t. With a growing sense of fear, Buck realizes that perhaps there were more long-lasting effects of the lightning strike.
In order to save Eddie, he knows he’ll have to go back home to Hershey, to his unloving and unforgiving parents, and to that clinically despondent hospital that gave him the blessing/curse of Elixir.

Summary
"You don’t get it, Maddie. I don’t think anyone could possibly begin to understand the way I want him — the way I need him. I need him with a soul aching desperation. It’s as though my body refuses to imagine an existence in which he’s gone from my presence. My mind immediately shuts down, merely at the thought of that scenario. I could say this fear started, after the coma, but truthfully it only made the fear infinitely worse. I started being afraid of losing him, the very first moment we met."
Buck thought he had gotten over his fear of falling asleep, when he recovered from his coma. Which is why it didn't make sense to him why his heart was beating erratically to the point where he was worried it would give out. It didn't make sense that his hands trembled as he tightly held his phone to his ear as he left voicemails, asking if anyone had seen Eddie. It didn't make sense because it felt like Eddie had been right there only a few seconds ago. It hadn't been that long, since he closed his eyes. Eddie was sitting beside him as he fell asleep. But he woke up and there was an empty space where Eddie once was.And Buck panicked.

Summary
“Tell me your story,” Buck asks, once they’re all settled in his office-slash-living room. It’s become his go-to ice-breaker for new clients—how could he expect to plan their wedding if he doesn’t know who they are as a couple? Sure, he’s a romantic, but it’s also practical. It’s how he learns how to turn the big day from great into something magical. He sips his coffee, leaving his notepad in his bag for now. He wants this to be as natural as possible, and he can jot down his notes later.
Ana, the bride-to-be, smiles brightly, linking her fiancé’s hand with her own. “We met about three years ago. I was his son’s teacher.”
“She’s amazing with him,” the fiancé, Eddie, cuts in. He’s incredibly handsome, with his brown eyes and long lashes, perfect smile, and hair combed to the side. They make a beautiful couple.

Summary
“Wanna dance?” Eddie asks, leaning only slightly away to look at Buck. He’s smirking now, eyes traveling all over Buck’s face, taking in his expression and the color blooming on his cheeks.
There’s a look in Eddie’s eyes now, one that Buck hadn’t quite seen before this trip. Or had he? Did it just not mean to him then what he realizes, or thinks, it means now? Regardless, it confirms a thought that has been niggling at the back of his mind all night.
Flirting. Eddie was flirting with him.
or, Buck visits Eddie in Texas a few months after he leaves LA. They road trip to Austin with Adriana to stay with Sophia, who has planned a night out on the town that none of them will soon forget - especially Buck and Eddie.
