“Do I have to drink other people’s blood?” Yuji asked as he tugged on Megumi’s arm, gazing up at him with a frown on his face. “I only want yours…”
Megumi looked down at Yuji and felt his lips curving up against his own will. Sometimes, he could have sworn there was still a flicker of Yuji’s old eye color. Dark red mottled with little specks of brown hiding between those long lashes. He wasn’t quite sure if he’d ever get used to how devastatingly beautiful his Yuji was.
“And I suppose you’d still want me to only feed from you, is that right?” Megumi said.
Yuji rolled his eyes, smushed his face into Megumi’s shoulder. “Yes,” he mumbled. “Obviously.”
Megumi introduces Yuji to the world of being a vampire. Similarly, he learns what it’s like to have a fledgling for the first time.

“What kind of person gets off on blood?” said Yuji, and Megumi licked his lips as he stared at him intently.
“Perhaps the kind that’s not a person.”
“No, you’re not,” Yuji agreed. “You’re like… a figment of my imagination. You’re so fucking beautiful, nothing that looks like you could ever be real.”
Megumi just stared at him with those blank eyes.
“I am real,” he said. “I’m only dead.”
Yuji is self-destructive in more ways than one. Megumi searches for men specifically like Yuji to feed from and then kill. He never expected Yuji to enjoy it so much, nor did he expect himself to cling to Yuji’s presence like a lifeline.

Summary
The setting sun slants in from behind him at an angle, cutting across Hoshina’s face and illuminates the half of his body not hidden behind the door. Narumi swallows. He looks down to see Hoshina’s right hand clenched on the door handle, muscles in his arm tight with tension.
“Captain, shall we try using our words?” the vice-captain’s voice is mellow despite his body language.
The goad doesn’t even reach Narumi as his thoughts race. His goal for coming here was to settle things. Settle things how, he hadn’t quite thought through, but fists were definitely going to be involved. Or so he’d thought.
Now, standing opposite Hoshina, his blood is hammering through him but not in the way it does during a fight, or in the direction it usually does.
Oh. He definitely did not want to use his fists.

Lance stares at him, feeling exposed and cut to the bone.

Vice-captain Hoshina is engaging the second kaiju, reports the control room.
“Hoshina,” grits Narumi out unthinkingly.
“Oh!” the reporter gasps breathily. Her cheeks pinken. Before them, the cameraman chokes.
Or: After a misconstrued interview with the media, Narumi is obliged to fake-date Hoshina for the sake of the Defense Force's publicity ratings. Along the way, Narumi gains a roommate, struggles with his feelings, and discovers just how difficult it is to tell where a pretend relationship ends and a real one begins.
