Yuji is tired and depressed; so many of his friends died and he’s just so tired of losing people. He somehow ends up in the Heian Era as a three year old with the memories of a nineteen year old. It goes about as poorly as you’d expect.
I’ve never read the manga, but I have seen a few spoilers so there might be some inaccuracies where I just made stuff up to fill in the gaps.

Yoshino Junpei is a fifteen year old time-traveling aberration of jujutsu and Gojo's new student. (Sort of. Gojo is neither a teacher nor, in fact, graduated.) He's here to tell Gojo almost nothing of importance because he actually had very little idea what was going on in 2018 other than the immediate circumstances of his death ... and that's it, really.
If Gojo is refusing to look Nanami in the eyes, spiritually, mentally, and also physically, that has nothing to do with Junpei. The consensual murder experiment does have to do with Junpei, but everybody is so okay with that and it's incidental at best.
He knows nothing and his presence changes nothing, so it's entirely unrelated to all the breakdowns Gojo isn't having. Everything is fine and the timeline is not disrupted.
