“You ate the key.”
“I said I was sorry!” Robin exclaims. “You two just looked so cute on the floor together and I remembered the handcuffs in Eddie’s room and I just wanted—” she halts her rambling, glancing between Eddie and Steve. “I thought it’d be funny.”

Summary
The worst part about summer is that Patrick has to spend the entire month of July with his parents in Palm Beach, no if, ands, or buts. The best part about summer is that he gets to bring Art with him, and the second best part is that away from school and tournaments, he and Art are granted a merciful break from randomized drug tests.

Summary
Eddie cast around for topics that might get Richie going—weird movie concepts, gross food combinations, Odd Future, how much all the TV Eddie liked apparently sucked—but nothing seemed like it would be enough to fix whatever this was. Eddie took a deep breath as subtly as he could. “Do you, like, hate it here?”
Richie made a laugh-adjacent noise. “Uh, yeah. What tipped you off?” he said immediately. But then he looked at Eddie out of the corner of his eye. “Do you?” he asked, sounding less sure.
“So fucking much,” Eddie said.

“Greg, you’re being too fucking polite for your own good,” Tom says, throwing back the last of his wine. “Say something mean right now.”
“Like what?”
“Don’t get distracted, finish your thought. Try saying what you’re really thinking.”
“I don’t—“
“Fine, I’ll do it for you. ‘Oh, I’m Greg, uh, I hate capitalism but actively participate in it, oh, God, Logan Roy is my real dad. Oh, God. Kiss me, Tom.’”
“Okay—“
“‘Oh God, Tom, take me home.’ Okay, seriously, I’m getting the bill.”

Summary
Songwriting pair James Potter and Sirius Black are a skilled duo with mad charisma, the writer had expostulated, and their switching off guitar and drum duties builds a sense of camaraderie that put a smile on this writer’s face. But Marauders’ guitarist Remus Lupin (yes, I’ve been assured that is his real name) is the band’s most technically skilled musician — and their secret weapon.

Summary
Art blinks, confused. “So you’re telling me you were turned off because he wasn’t a smoker.”
“No, idiot.” Patrick shakes his head. He looks up at the sky, drinking in the sight of that dark veil looming above them, before returning his gaze back to Art.
“I’m saying he wasn’t you. No guy I ever kissed or got head from or fucked would ever be you.”

“Well, it’s not for me, I don’t think," Art says. "I’ve never had a good kiss when tongue was involved.”
Patrick’s eyebrows shoot up. “Wait, like, never?”
Art shakes his head.
“You’re lying,” Patrick gapes. “That’s impossible. You’re telling me you haven’t had one decent French kiss?"

“I was busy," Art says. "I was on the court literally the entire day. Sorry I don’t have time to cater to your every bullshit need.”
“Tashi isn’t my girlfriend. Is that what you wanted to hear?”
At last, their eyes meet. The sobering, thoughtful blue of Patrick’s gaze is so disarming that it feels like Art is talking to a different person.
Patrick visits Stanford and makes it pretty evident he's there for Tashi more than Art. Art is trying really hard not to care about it.

“Why the fuck is Patrick calling you?”
He pulls back the shower curtain, and she glances down at his chest on instinct. “Hi,” he says, sweetly.
She reaches out and touches his injured shoulder briefly; it always comes out looking red after hot water. He smiles at her and brings her hand to his mouth, kissing her knuckles. And then he blinks a few times, like he’s remembering what she said. “I ran into him in Australia.”

Patrick isn’t sure whether Art is more pissed that his injury happened in the final, or that it’s Patrick who volunteers to sit with him in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
“You can afford this, right?” Patrick says, half electric with adrenaline despite being fine, physically. “Ambulance is fine?”
“I’m, fucking,” Art grits through his teeth, “ranked 9th in the fucking world, Patrick.”

Summary
Art eyes three mannequins wearing leather and lingerie in the window. One female mannequin is holding a cat-of-nine-tails; another is holding fuzzy handcuffs. Between them sits something that Art has never seen before - a male mannequin with its hands tied behind its back and a ball shoved into its mouth. The man is wearing a leather vest and cropped shorts with a little rainbow patch on the pocket, and the sight of it sends a shiver of fear up his spine. Suddenly, Art can’t be here.
Art Donaldson tries to grow up.

Summary
Patrick has been a perfectly fine scapegoat for as long as he didn’t have to look him in the eyes—for Tashi, and thus, for Art, because he’d done enough fucked up things to keep the lie believable, to frontload blame, channel every bit of jealousy and self-righteousness and frustration he’s ever felt towards him and bury his memory into something warped, but they’re too close now to avoid the inevitable blow up. The buried truth.
The truth is, they’re each other’s inverse in that Patrick will betray others to prove to himself that he’s a scumbag, and Art will betray himself to feel less guilty about what he wants.
The truth is, Art knows repression first and second hand, literally, and he’s done good forgetting.
