The house had yellow walls and pale wood trim in all the rooms. The floors were linoleum, except the bathroom and the kitchen which had tile. Juwon cleaned the bathroom sink and the mirror every day with wipes, even though Dongsik didn’t leave much to clean. He only shaved every other day at most, and would rub raspily at his chin when his stubble got too long. Juwon would have hated the sound if it was anyone else. Instead he found the soft scratchy noise inoffensive, like the whir of wheels on an exercise bike.
Juwon moves in unannounced.

In an instant, Beldaruit recoiled. He slapped aside Deanreldy’s hands, twisting his entire body away. “Is this part of your scheme? Stop this at once! I refuse to be your specimen!”
Deanreldy was too clever by half. If he allowed the king to continue, Beldaruit feared that his body would somehow betray their witchly secrets. It was easy enough to hide his fear with anger, although part of the anger was directed at himself. He had let down his guard.
After the disastrous meeting, Deanreldy visits Beldaruit in private to tend to his wounds.

It’s like his brain shortcuts to places he didn’t even know existed before he came into contact with expressive eyebrows, gleaming eyes and a determined grin.
A grin that slips slowly off Gai’s face now. His eyes grow huge, as if to make up for it. “What.”

Gai takes it as agreement and mentally begins composing a speech about the true and unfaltering nature of their Eternal Rivalry. He struggles to lay out the words this doesn't have to mean anything or change anything in a way that means he doesn't say it at all but Kakashi will hear it anyway, until he passes out again with his nose pressed against the back of Kakashi's neck.
