Summary
“My flight is early tomorrow,” Rozanov says. He bites his lip. Shane’s eyes stick there too. “You look in hallway, yes?”
Shane sticks his head out. The hallway is empty.
Would it hurt? To go another round? Rozanov has to fly out early anyway, it’s hardly like they’ll be spending time befriending each other. What is one night, when they’ve already crossed the line with eyes wide open?
“Shit,” he says. “There’s a couple at the end of the hallway, arguing, you know? You better wait until they leave.”
OR
Shane lies, that first night, to keep Rozanov to himself a little longer. The changes spiral out from there.

Summary
Ilya picks up on the third ring, breathing heavily into the phone. Shane hears a door slam shut through the device. “Do not yell at me.”
Shane stares at the half-empty bottle of vodka on the coffee table. “You suck.”
“I suck? I scored hat-trick! In your stupid body! I have not eaten in six hours, Hollander. I have not pissed. I have not laid down. I want to go home.”
“Rozanov–”
“Your mother has called twenty times. Your manager has called thirty times. Your father text me picture of crossword puzzle and ask for help. Clue is about American President from the 1980s. I cannot help!”

Summary
“Are you sniffing me?” There’s a laugh in Foggy’s voice, inviting her in on the joke.
Matty doesn’t much feel like laughing.
She ducks her head lower, lips grazing the shell of Foggy’s ear. “Yes.”
She hears Foggy’s breath catching slightly, the slight creak of her office chair as she shifts, spreading her knees a little wider. “I’m sure I don’t exactly smell like roses.” She sounds apologetic, the foolish girl. “It’s been so warm lately.”
“You don’t smell like roses, no.” Matty finally gives into temptation, and presses her mouth to Foggy’s ear, to her jaw, nosing down the creamy column of her throat. “You smell like yourself.”
“Very eloquent of you.” There’s a definite hitch in Foggy’s voice now as Matty presses a slow kiss to her pulse, thudding warm and steady in her neck.
“It’s good.” She hums, kissing a slow trail across the line of Foggy’s collarbone, exposed by the low cut of her blouse. “Sweet. Like you.”
Or, Matty gets a craving. Her girlfriend indulges her.

Summary
“Come on, Hollander. It’s ironic,” Ilya says, leaning into his husband as they fly south. “I mean, we spend whole year on babymaking, researching, planning, lots of worry, lots of emotions, make decision, get ball rolling, so thoughtful, but then boom, baby drops out of nowhere.”
“He’s not a baby,” Shane says.
“Well, figure of speech.”
* * *
Ilya inherits a surly grief-stricken nine year-old and has to figure out how to fit him into their lives.

Summary
“You want to get dinner later?” he asks.
“Sure,” Foggy says. “Want to try that Indian place?”
“Definitely,” Matt says. “It's a date.”
He freezes after he says that, and Foggy gapes at him.
“Okay, bye,” Matt says, quickly, shutting the door behind him when he leaves.

Bookmarker's Notes
7/10 imperfect characterization, i love that they’re playful but sometimes the discomfort of pining is a little too tangible. i like marci and the back and forth of ‘it’s a date??’
“Are you—are you trying to play footsie with me?”
Matt says, “Uhm,” eloquently.
“This is a date,” Foggy says, laughing. “Murdock.”
“Do you want it to be?” Matt asks.
Foggy kicks him under the table.
“Yes, you asshole,” he says.“Good first date?”
“Can’t wait for the second,” Foggy says, curling fingers around the back of Matt’s neck. “Like, literally—come here.”
