Summary
"You're doing it on purpose. I doubt you two even know whose clothes are whose now."
Buck laughs as if this is all a humorous inside joke between the three of them. Chimney is not laughing. "I mean, when you do laundry together, things are bound to get mixed up," he says, like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
Chimney stops short once again.
"Back up a second. Why" —he massages his forehead. It doesn't help his rapidly forming headache— "Why the hell are you two doing laundry together?”
(or Buck and Eddie seem to keep swapping clothes and it’s driving Chimney insane)

Summary
“Youdidntlookexcitedtoseeme,” Eddie mumbles in one unhappy breath.
Buck chuckles. “What was that?”
Eddie huffs. “You,” he says pointedly, poking a finger into Buck’s chest. “Didn’t look excited,” he emphasizes. “To see me.”
Or, sometimes, Eddie likes to be a tiny bit dramatic. Just sometimes. Just as a treat. It's Buck's favorite thing.

Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
“Family doesn’t have to be you, and Christopher, and a woman that could maybe be his mother. It can just be you and Christopher. It can be you, and Christopher, and the people around you that love you enough to never stop trying.”
“Like Buck.” Eddie doesn’t mean to voice it, but it feels nice to do it anyway.
“Sure,” Frank nods. There is a smile on his face, one that Eddie doesn’t think he’s seen before. “Like Buck.”

Summary
Or 5 times everyone thought Buck and Eddie were cluelessly in love, and 1 time they found out just how wrong they were.
“Wait wait wait…” Chimney held up his hands to stop the conversation. “You mean not only are you guys together, but you’re married?”
Buck shot Eddie a confused glance before looking back at his brother-in-law. “Uhh, yeah, Chim. Have been for about a year now?”
“A year?” It was now Hen’s turn to interject, her eyebrows shooting up. “What the hell do you mean you’ve been married for a year?”
“We mean we’ve been married for a year, Hen,” Eddie chuckled with a confused smile.
“I mean, come on, guys,” Maddie laughed. “It’s not like they kept it a secret or anything.”
Chimney’s head snapped back to look at his wife, his jaw hanging open. “You knew about this?”
Maddie slowly turned to look at him, one of her eyebrows arched. “You didn’t?”

Summary
He and Chris, and Buck. They work, they’re a unit. Why should it matter that he’s single?
Buck is watching him, like he’s reading every thought on his face.
“You’re already planning to lie about the date. Why don’t you just tell her you met someone yourself?”
Eddie shrugs and tilts his head to the side, squinting in thought. “She won’t set me up on dates if she thinks I’ve got someone,” he muses. “But she’ll want to meet whoever it is.”
“So... Introduce them?”
Or: Buck offers to fake-date Eddie so Pepa will stop setting him up on dates.

“C’mon, Cap, there’s gotta be someone else. Send anyone else,” Buck pleaded, adding in a hasty, “Please,” as an afterthought.
“I can’t, Buck. It’s your turn this month.”
“But…I wanna be out there with you, being useful, not stuck giving a lecture to some bored out of their minds teenagers.”
“Then don’t make it boring,” Bobby said with a reassuring smile, giving Buck’s shoulder a firm squeeze as he walked towards the stairs.
Buck groaned and sulked the whole way to the locker room. Tomorrow was going to suck. Teenagers were the worst! At least little kids were interested, their eyes glowing and growing round with each piece of gear he pulled out. They asked questions and made it fun. Teenagers just sat there and stared miserably off into the distance…or slept, or doodled, or found some other way to not pay attention and prove to him that he was wasting his time.
Career Day was the fucking worst!

Summary
Eddie sat on the couch and took a breath as he gazed expectantly at the door, which swung open a few minutes later. His heart rate calmed a few beats when he saw Buck was holding a coffee carrier that bore the logo of their favorite coffee shop and had a neutral look on his face.
“Hey,” Eddie said tentatively, not moving from his spot on the couch. The atmosphere felt fragile, like there was a skittish wild animal in their midst.
“Hi,” Buck replied softly, similarly rooted to his spot a few feet away.
“I wasn’t sure if you were coming back,” Eddie said honestly.
“I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to,” Buck countered, vulnerability laid bare.
A beat of silence passed. “I’m sorry-“ both said, almost in unison, causing them to chuckle, which broke through the tension a bit more.
OR: Eddie and Buck are willing to compromise for each other.

“How do you feel?”
Buck groans and shifts, rolling more onto his back. He throws an arm over his eyes and yup – headache. “Hot,” he replies. “Gross.”
“Okay, well, you’re one of those things all the time. Could you be more specific?”
“I threw up yesterday around four in the afternoon. Thought it was food poisoning and that it'd go right through me – That I’d be better in the morning. I took some Pepto and went to bed, then I woke up at around midnight and haven't stopped, uh, throwing up and stuff, since then.”
