Summary
200 years ago Viktor's shtetl was attacked at night by the Cossacks. These monsters, sent by the blood thristy Czar Michael Romanov, slaughtered all who they found. Viktor was sent to take the children into the woods to survive the pogrom. However, the Cossacks hunted by smell and followed. Viktor and the children are drained of their blood and left to die.
However, he was saved by the Morning Star, Lilith who turned him so he could assist her in hunting down and killing the progengy of the first man she had ever turned, Michael.
