Using his good hand, he shifted forward, using all his strength to put weight on one foot, and…
Nothing. He had no strength in his legs right now. He tried again, and again, and each time, they would give way, and another twinge would ripple upwards. On his last attempt, his foot slipped, almost sending him face-first into the dirt. Standing up on his own, let alone walking, was out of the question right now.
Crawling, one-armed, a great distance with very little strength? That wasn’t sensible either. No, right now, all Flowery could do was… stay put.
What a laugh. He was just as useless as a flower.
(That wasn’t right. Flowers weren’t useless… But like this, with no one to see him, what good was he?)
He sighed, feeling the exhaustion catch back up to him. Shuffling into a comfortable position as best he could, Flowery took one deep breath,and called for help.

When Flowery reawakens at the world's end, he finds his injuries too debilitating to move. Left all alone, he can only reminisce on times past, and hope that someone, anyone, will find him.

Susie, moved by the flowers’ determination to live, becomes determined to let them, bringing them to Castletown and dedicating herself to their care whilst Asgore is gone. Flowery is given a nice tape bandage and popsicle stick splint, and she and Kris gently take the trek to the Grand Fountain. However, after school the next day, when she goes to visit them for their daily watering, there is one problem: All of the flowers absolutely REFUSE to go outside of their sunlight. Their encounter with the Knight has terrified them to wilting, and they have become overly involved with Flowery’s care. Ralsei, Susie and Kris now have to try to convince the flowers to come outside and spread their leaves. Flowery’s too kind to say it, but they’re all driving him crazy!

“We’re not so different, you and I,” he continues, smiling serenely. At Ralsei's painfully obvious scepticism, Flowery has to stifle a laugh. “I mean it! All of this–” His arms stretch out wide: a showcase of his delicate, beautiful, curated home. “Is to help my Lightner. We owe it to him after everything he’s done for us. What have Kris and Susie ever truly done for you?”
With perceptible effort, Ralsei takes a measured breath. “Kris and Susie,” he says stonily, frustration ebbing into his coldness. “Are my friends. And besides that, they’re Lightners. I don’t need a reason to serve them. We’re not–”
“Equals?” Cutting in seamlessly, Flowery rests his chin on one palm. “Or have I been reading that wrong?”
OR: Ralsei heads to the spring baths alone. Flowery doesn't let him stay solitary for long.

They had a system.
The lights stayed off. They were there, in case of emergencies or guests, but outside of those extenuating circumstances, they never turned on. On especially dark or cloudy nights, Kris cracked a glowstick and circled it around their wrist when they walked into the kitchen around 4:00 AM to make coffee after giving up on sleep for the night. Sometimes, the smell drew it out of its room; she'd come grab a cup, and they'd sip the hot, bitter liquid together in silent camaraderie. Usually, Kris drank the small pot alone.
...
It feels selfish, like some violation of the silent pact they’ve made with themself, with Dess. An unspoken agreement to fade quietly from this world, to break away in little pieces over time, make their peace and let the others make theirs.
...
They are warm. A hand on their wrist. Breath on their shoulder. Snores shaking the floor. They are comfortable, and safe, and loved, and somehow this is worse. Because the warmth isn't theirs in the same way the screams weren't theirs; because Kris is a quiet thing, a cold thing, and the pain belongs to them but the fire does not.(i.e. Kris and Dess are forced out of their downward spirals and learn to be loved.)
