Delilah Evans was far too gentle and kind to be placed in such a dark and doomed house. Though Delilah knew a small portion of darkness bloomed inside of her. Whether she choose to act on it or not was her decision, that only varying on the circumstance.
Her strive for perfection above all was also a convincing matter. She knew if she was accepted into the magical world, she wanted to be the best. Her ambition was enough to prove her worth for the house and her pride for her magic showing her worth.
Delilah Evans was the first ever muggleborn to be placed in Slytherin and sometimes she was wished was never sorted into there at all. Her own house claimed her blood tainted their status, that she did not belong in such a prestigious house. They reminded her far too much for her liking.
She often saw Regulus Black cowering away under the pressure of the blood purists. In a way she always found her heart reaching out to him, trying to comfort him. Until he spit watered down filth her way when she existed in the same vicinity as him. Then, she would remember just why she kept away.

Karis Vale wrote Harry Potter fanfiction. Mostly Draco Malfoy, whose problems she understood in exhaustive and arguably unnecessary detail. This was not, in retrospect, surprising. Heroes were fine. Karis simply found them less interesting than disasters.
Then she woke up in 1973.
Draco had not been born. His father unfortunately had. Potions appeared personally invested in her death, and Regulus Black thought she was either lying, insane, or attempting a remarkably incompetent form of seduction.
Karis had never written Regulus Black.
She did, however, know how his story ended.
The story begins in the Marauders era, but it does not stay there.
