Summary
“You two,” Mundungus guffawed. “Dating! Yeah, right! You really had me going for a minute, you know that? And you’re sober? Give me a break!”
Snape let out a long sigh, pulling away from Sirius. “You know what?” he said mildly. “I think this is going to be harder than we thought.”

Summary
She’d wanted to become a disasterologist, and had found that there was no such thing; she’d attempted to study history, but after the third class memorizing the family trees of long-dead English kings she’d found herself pining rather violently for a guillotine. And then she’d called Vielle to complain, and Vielle had said, “You want a disaster? Try working in the ER.”

Summary
“He is not sleeping in our bed,” Snape said. “No. No way.”
“Oh,” Sirius said. “Er—”
“Maybe if he does it as a bloody dog,” Snape snapped. “But—”
“I could do that.” Both of them looked at him, Remus in obvious dismay. “I could be a dog.”

Summary
“You’re another hallucination,” Sirius realizes. “Aren’t you?”
The man looks confused. He has a sharp curved nose and greasy hair and all-black clothes and scarred hands and dark brown eyes and a fierce scowl; he looks unlike anyone Sirius has ever seen before, which seems odd for a hallucination. But then he’s never hallucinated an entire person before, or at least he can't remember it. He’s heard plenty secondhand. “You think you’re hallucinating?”
“I have been for a week.”
“No, you haven’t,” the man says irritably. “This flat is haunted. I’m haunting it. And it’s time for you to leave.”

Summary
Remus is grateful for the decision to sleep over at Grimmauld Place when he sees who’s making the racket downstairs, waking the portraits, stumbling and banging around, and he’s grateful that Padfoot is such a heavy sleeper, too. He doesn’t draw his wand, but it’s a close thing. “Snivellus. Drunk, are you? I thought you knew better than to show up here.”

Summary
“—unfair how fit he is,” Black is saying. “It’s bloody unfair. It’s obscene. How dare he walk around looking like that? It’s not right.”
“Are you ever gonna shut up about Snape?”
Snape doesn’t stumble, but it’s a close thing. “No,” Black says. “No, I’m not. Did you see his arse on Friday? Sweet Merlin. Woof. I’d like to take a bite straight out of that.”
“I know, Padfoot.”
“Can you imagine the hate sex we would have? I bet he’s into some freaky shit.”
“Freakier than you?”
“Oh, by far. You know that guy thinks BDSM is tame.”

Summary
Debra sits up thinking for a long time after Dexter leaves her room. She’s never been all that jealous of Dexter’s relationship with Dad, or at least she tries not to be; she knows intellectually that the only reason they spend so much time together is that Dexter is a grade-A psycho little freak who has to be coached on every single detail of the basics of human interaction.
Dexter’s never brought the whole thing up around Dad, so Deb hasn’t, either; now, though, she’s wondering if she has a choice in the matter. He offered to teach Dexter how to kill humans.

Summary
Len insists she move into his garage after Farug and Basam fire and evict her in one fell swoop. Miri accepts despite herself, wondering if he just wants a nursemaid to tend to him, given the broken elbow. But he doesn’t ask her to do anything for him, or at least nothing extreme; for two days, they focus on moving her scant possessions, buying her an A/C unit to mitigate the swelter of New York’s brutalistic, ever-intensifying, global-warming summer, and hauling The Golem’s corpse back into the backyard. Len seems to know what she’s doing when she goes out to the shed for long periods, and on the third day, he says, “You’re making him a dick this time.”

Summary
“He’s going to need further care,” the vet said. “He’s incredibly malnourished, for one. And he’s going to need healing potions three times a day for the next week. We can keep him here and administer them until we cut him loose, but I don’t think—if you’d be willing to take him on—”
The man looked startled. “Me?”
“You.”
“Well, I—I, erm—”
“You obviously care what happens to him,” the vet said. “And he’s obviously desperately in need of a good home. I’m surprised he hasn’t starved to death by now.”
The man’s face grew pinched. “Shite.” He shook his head once, twice, three times. “What all do I need?”

Summary
“You should stay the night.”
“Excuse me?”
“Don’t you want to?”
“Black, I don’t—don’t you hate me?”
“Oh, absolutely. But I haven’t had someone to share a bed with in fifteen years.”
