This is, without a doubt, the most vulnerable Satoru has ever felt. He watches Suguru’s eyes soften with understanding, and he nods wordlessly.

He moans, overwhelmed, and into the skin of his torso, Suguru mumbles “Tell me when to stop.”
He says it like a plea, like he needs Satoru to keep him in line because he’s losing his own control.
What a silly thought, that he’d be so undone just with Satoru’s skin— but he is, they both are, ridiculously desperate for something so ordinary and carnal they never noticed they weren’t immune to it.

Lengthy hashtags call Kiyoomi, among other things, a hottie, a gentleman, and men's volleyball's Yamato Nadeshiko. GIFs of him picking out that thread from the journalist's hair with his handkerchief are processed with sparkle effects, warped-looking emojis, and cut together with too many pink-toned splices of him during the interview for the naked human eye to possibly process properly. A few of these feature on accounts whose handles are some variation of sakusa kiyoomi imagines, which bewilders him as much as it repels all his questions. Too many tweets call him sir. Far too many include typed out dog noises. Others yet contain emojis visibly sweating or sobbing in distress at more GIFs of his interview.
He then reads the word daddy and puts his phone down.
Kiyoomi goes viral for his first solo TV interview. Everyone talks about it except Atsumu.

Summary
Shouyou wonders what the people watching him go by would think if they knew. You see that one guy, Japan’s top scorer? I once played a game against him and won. You see the one making his Olympic debut before he’s even turned twenty? After matches, we would walk home together. He doesn’t like to hold hands but he likes to pull you close. We’d walk with our arms linked close and stars dotting the sky. It always smelled of cherry trees.
Kageyama must be on top of the world, right now. Shouyou isn’t there with him.
It feels bittersweet, in a way. He’s not there, but he will be. Just because he took a detour doesn’t mean he’s stopped running; he might be taking the long way home, but he’ll get there when the time is right. He made a promise, after all.
He sends Kageyama a text. I saw you today. You were amazing.
Then he races.
Or, Hinata Shouyou takes the long way home. Featuring the universal experience of being other, untranslatable words, Carnival-induced catharsis, and of course, hunger.
