Summary
It starts with Dean insisting it’s just a scratch—and ends with Sam sitting by his bedside in a rain-soaked motel room, spooning ramen soup out of a coffee pot and pretending not to worry. Fever makes Dean stubborn, causing him to issue half-formed orders about cleaning guns and salting doors, and to reach back into old memories, calling out in a voice that hurts more than the wound.
So Sam does what Dean’s always done for him: he stays. He cools the fever, wraps him in blankets, humors the nonsense, and keeps the world small and safe until morning.
Salt. Honey. And a moment to breathe between battles, quiet night when—for once—Sam got to take care of his big brother.

"Don't be dense," Bobby tells him. "I've already made up the spare room. And besides, I'm the one who sent you chasing after that nuckelavee. It's my fault you got bit, least I can do is give you a proper bed to sleep it off."
"Not your fault," Dean protests immediately, just like Bobby knew he would. "But hey, next time you want us to visit, just ask, old man."
The call ends. Bobby huffs. Damn kids. Figures they'd pick up on the real reason Bobby had tipped them off on a hunt so close by.
