Summary
It's still there, sometimes. Which shouldn't surprise her, really - she's seen how Max's eyes glaze over when she lets herself sit still, how Steve jerks awake at the slightest sound, how Nancy scans every new room for its exits. But Robin also knows she got off pretty easily, in comparison to the others. Feels like maybe she hasn't earned it.
The Upside Down, clearly, doesn't fucking care.
In which Robin makes it to Paris, Steve stays in Hawkins, and the answer to "is this shit safe to breathe?" turns out to be a definitive no.

Summary
He wishes she wasn't brave, like that. In the way that keeps her here, even when she's pretty sure they're all going to die, even when she has plans too big for small Indiana towns. And he's grateful that she is, because it means she's next to him. He should probably tell her, morning of the apocalypse and all that, but they've never been any good at saying these things out loud.
A moment on the rooftop, before the world ends.

A Swercy Orpheus and Eurydice AU.
In which "the ghosts of the city live underground" is taken very, very literally.

Summary
The train pulls into Union Square, and she can almost hear it - a thud, a shudder as the driver pumps the brakes. Bile rises in her throat. Across the aisle, a couple lean into each other lazily. Schoolgirls in crisp blue uniforms stifle laughter. The platform, lit in flickering fluorescents, looks the same as it ever has. She wonders who buried Fox, and under what name, and the thrumming in her ears grows louder.
In which Ajax gets out of jail, goes looking for Swan, and finds someone else.

You are raised by a ruddy-haired father and the sea itself.
For Roddacember Day 1: Character, and Day 2: Place. Of course it had to be Verity, and the Bone Point Light.

Summary
Someone appears in her field of view and they look white and stricken. She doesn’t recognize them. They shout over the ringing in her ears.
“Ms. Stratt, you’ve been shot!”
Grace and Rocky manage to detect and contain the Taumoeba leak before they part ways, which means Grace gets to return to Earth. His homecoming is not what he expects it to be.

Summary
Robin leans back in the cracked vinyl chair and slides her headphones over her ears, sealing herself inside the booth. The station smells like warm dust and burnt coffee — almost like home, if home hadn’t been steeped in stale beer and sour wine. If home hadn’t hummed with television static and the low thud of bottles set down too hard.
“Good evening, Hawkins,” she says into the mic, voice smooth, practiced into something silkier than she feels. “You’re tuned to WSQK, and this is Rockin’ Robin keeping you company on this fine Monday.”
She smiles automatically. It doesn’t travel past her mouth.
The board in front of her glows a dependable green. Levels steady. No distortion. She still waits for it. For months after Starcourt, any electrical hum had meant something else — the grinding whine of that machine chewing at the fabric of reality beneath layers of concrete. Even now, the low buzz in the station walls makes her shoulders inch toward her ears before she forces them down. Her body has better memory than her mind. Her body still expects Russian voices bleeding through plaster.
She flips a switch. A soft click. Queues the next track.

Summary
“What does platonic mean?” Tommy H asks, looking up from the paper Robin had spent an hour perfecting her messiest handwriting for.
“…At least a B- or you get half your money back,” Robin replies, thumbs hooked through the straps of her backpack. “Four pages, that’s ten bucks.”
“Jesus Christ, Buckley, that can’t be legal,” Tommy says, digging around his bag for cash anyway.
“This isn’t legal,” Robin deadpans, holding out a hand to take the slightly crumpled five dollar bills he offers her.
“Right.”
“Thank you for your business.” She waits for him to turn and leave the empty classroom they’d met in. Then, “Stupid fucking asshole.”
OR: Steve recruits Robin to write letters to Nancy Wheeler for him. She only kind of regrets it.

Summary
She wants to grab him by the collar of his annoyingly mature navy polo shirt and stuff him into one of her packed boxes (though he would never fit), and just take him with her. Poke little holes into the cardboard with her keys so he can breathe okay on the long drive to Smith.
Robin wants so many things, but saying goodbye isn’t one of them.
