And then Dustin did the whole Upside Down spiel he must’ve perfected over the summer because it was way easier to follow than the one he tried to give Robin and Erica in that Russian elevator. And then they talk about something called Vacna, or whatever, completely losing Steve in the process.
“Wait, wait, wait,” He says, holding out his hands. “Who is Vacna?”
“Vecna, Steve,” Dustin corrects. “He’s a dark wizard who can curse you.”
“Okay so, like, Chrissy what, got cursed?” Steve is so lost.
“You know about demogorgons but not Vecna?” Eddie asks and Steve dips his head to the side, mouth pinched together as he thinks about how he knows one nerd monster over another.
“In my defense, I’ve only fought the demogorgon.” He dips his head again, amending, “Well and a demodog or three.”
__Or what if Steve still had one more year left of High School? Season 4 retold with Steve as a Senior. The one where Steve Harrington has officially too many nicknames.

It stops the playful atmosphere instantly.
Not everyone tells him when they have a Memento. Lucas had kept to himself, and Will had refused to tell Steve about his dream. Some of them just tell him, softly, I remembered number one-seventy-three, or I had a Memento, last night. Sometimes it’s easier to just mention that it happened, acknowledge it and move on.
And Robin, for the most part, had done this. She hadn’t mentioned the details, because she’s sure that Steve is tired of hearing them, doesn’t want to hear his death from another person’s eyes, another person who is left with his body for a day before the loop dissolves into nothingness.
AKA: In the aftermath of it all, when Steve is learning what happiness means for him, people start to remember his deaths.

Steve Harrington has really been enjoying life post-Vecna, thank you very much. Everything has gone back to normal, it's like the whole thing never happened, and that's the way he likes it. He's definitely not thinking about Eddie and how they haven't talked since the night after the battle. He definitely doesn't mind that they aren't friends, and when Dustin barges into Family Video demanding that Steve checks in on Eddie, he definitely doesn't jump at the opportunity. He's just doing Dustin a favor. That's all.
This can be read on its own, but probably makes more sense if you read the other two works in the series first.

Nancy was pissed.
She slams the front door of Robins house and heads out to her car. She opens the car door and slams it shut behind her just sitting silently in the driver’s seat.
She pauses.
Thinking about everything that just happened. The fight with Robin, the anger that was bubbling up inside of her, the fear she felt at the thought of losing the taller girl. All of it hit her as she sat in the driver’s seat.
She wanted to cry, to scream, to let it all out but she couldn’t. At least not in front of Robins house where she was almost sure the girl was watching her through her window.
