Gabe became all too familiar with hospitals. Being in and out of them your entire life tends to make you view them as a second home. You start learning all of the nurses names, knowing the process before the doctor even says anything. Which is tragically how Gabe sees them. The bright lights, uncomfortable mattress, itchy hospital gown, quiet dread that he might never get out of the bed, it all became familiar to him.

As soon as the steps to the Van Eck mansion came into view a sinking feeling found its way in Jesper’s stomach. It was late, and Wylan was no doubt waiting for him. He’d have to go in and face the disappointment.

Natalie once asked David and Gabe if they’d both instantly evaporate if they were separated for more than a few hours.
It was more of an offhand observation than anything else, delivered in the middle of a FaceTime while she was doing something else, folding laundry, maybe, or pacing her room with the phone balanced on her arm as she was holding other things. The details weren’t anything to remember. The comment barely slowed the conversation. Gabe laughed, David made a noncommittal noise, and they moved on.
But the question lingered in his mind for a bit.

Jesper honestly didn’t know why he was going to do this in the first place. Was it out of spite? Greed? Vengeance? Even Wylan wouldn’t do what he was about to go do. He knew it was immature but he was still going to do it. The more he thought about it, the more staying at home with Wylan started to sound appealing. He had no obligation to do this, it was one of his risky urges that he was following yet again.
or, where Jesper pays someone a visit to ask for their blessing to marry Wylan. Kind of.
