"Give me a good reason not to fire you." Keith says again, one hand against the wall boxing Steve into the corner of the room. He keeps his voice level though, he is not trying to make Steve break and wilt into a pitiful ball that just annoyingly makes him want to coddle. No he wants a good reason to put up with all this shit, a good reason to not just fire him and be done with it all.
"I, I." Steve stops, chewing on his lip, head tilted back almost making eye contact but not quite, it is always a problem for him, one Keith is usually keen to take advantage of but he just finds it annoying right now.

What the ever-loving fuck is happening right now? The demon-dog-flower-thing is knocked from his chest by Harrington, who Billy can only recognise as ‘King Steve’: the cocky motherfucker he’d heard so much about the past month and a half and hadn’t seen a single glimpse of in all that time.

His hand slipped from his wrists, moving to card into Steve’s hair, nails dully scraping against his scalp. Taking strands of his hair under his fingers, twirling it, he could feel a drop of blood fall from Billy’s chin onto his shirt, making it slightly damp against him. Sticky and uncomfortable.

An alternate take on what happens in season two episode nine if Steve had the foresight to make sure the kids hid before the went out to talk to Billy. Steve was startled out of his thoughts by the loud, authoritative voice echoing through the empty trees. He felt heat pool in his abdomen at the thoughts he was just having, his cheeks burned as he felt as if Hopper could read his mind.
“Chief- sir- uh nothing. Nothing going on. Just uh- some fresh air y’know?” He stuttered, fidgeting with his hands slightly, giving the chief a small fake smile that surely came out as more of a grimace.

Summary

Jim Hopper and Steve Harrington are trapped in a Russian prison, held in brutal conditions. A violent and sadistic Russian officer fixates on Steve, and Hopper is powerless to intervene as the kid he used to lecture about parties and beer becomes a target of relentless torment. When a chaotic rescue mission saves Hopper but forces him to leave Steve behind, he makes a plan to go back for him on his own.
The Party doesn't abandon its own, though, and Steve belongs to them. With the kids, some helpful adults, and the teens who are still unsure how they've gotten dragged into so many life-or-death situations, Hopper heads back into hell to save the kid he failed.
This time, he'll die before he leaves Steve behind.
