Shane follows Ray through the halls, head turning every which way to take in everything around him. As they near his office, a young man, blonde curly hair pulled back into a low ponytail, steps out from another nearby door. He stops dead in his tracks. “We have new blood?”
“Keep walking, Ilya.”
Ilya catches the eye of the man trailing behind Father Mukada, one hand white knuckling a brown paper bag, the other hand tucked awkwardly in his pants pocket, and he can’t help but notice the way his mouth drops open just a little as they look at one another. The innocence oozes off of him in waves. “Well, fuck me for being curious.” He starts to walk away back to Em City, but not before winking at Mukada’s guest.

Ilya is a new inmate at the Oswald State Correctional Facility (Level 4), otherwise known as Oz. Shane recently graduated with a degree in theology, and found an opportunity to work with Father Ray Mukada in Oz.

Rather than give him the joint, Ilya takes it back between his own lips and sucks in a deep breath, the tip glowing as he does so. Then, before Shane can process it, he’s reaching up and sliding one large hand around the back of Shane’s neck, pulling him down so their lips meet.
Shane gasps softly, and Ilya takes the opportunity to blow smoke into his open and waiting mouth.
Oh, God. Are you there? It’s me, Shane Hollander. We’ve had our differences, but I think I’d like to convert for real this time. I’m ready. Open the pearly white gates. I’m coming up.

Summary
After Shane's plan to come out to Ilya in Tampa falls through, the pair have a falling out. There is no cottage. Instead, Ilya is forced to wait and see Shane at a charity event being held in New York. Ilya hopes that, after a miserable summer apart, he and Shane can reconcile.
There's just one problem.

No serious hockey fan or sports commentator worth their salt would have considered record-breaking Boston superstar Ilya Rozanov to be Shane Hollander’s rival exactly, but sleeping with a man who had a specific offense-related vendetta against him and a wrist shot like a jet engine to back it up was probably ill-advised just the same.

Summary
The Swiss National League doesn’t care about the legendary Hollander-Rozanov rivalry. When the MLH can’t negotiate with the Hockey Players’ Union in time to prevent a hockey lockout at the start of the 2015 season, the Zürich Lions jump at the chance to sign both Shane and Ilya to short-term contracts. For four months in Switzerland, they share a team, a line, a house, and a bed.
Then the lockout ends in January, and it’s time to go back. Back to different countries, cities, lives. Beds.

It’s a downright demeaning way to live, she inherently knows this. Alicent used to think one day she would let the guilt get the best of her and end this thing between them before it even really got started, but she’s come to realize over the last few months how weak she is.
It makes her feel dizzy to realize how afraid she is, and how despite that fear, she does it anyway. Gives in time and time again, like Rhaenyra is not a spoiled brat and instead some undeniable force of nature.
(Or, where time and time again Rhaenyra proves she is far from being scrupulous to get what she wants, and time and time again Alicent proves she can’t deny what she undeniably wants.)
