Roz’s Montreal girl. The girl who’d one had him show up to practice covered in cat scratches. The same girl, if Cliff has to guess, that Roz has been texting since his fucking rookie season. He decides to go for a hail mary.
“Bet your girl’s happy about the shorter commute, huh?” Roz’s eyes snap to his, wide with shock. Cliff raises his hand in a placating gesture. “Relax, brother.”
“Yes,” he says, “she is.”

Summary
Shane holds his hand in the grocery store. He bumps their knees together under the lunch table after practice. He kisses Ilya for good luck before physio. Each and every little thing feels like a victory worthy of a rallying speech and dragging the boys out for drinks. Ilya supposes that him and Shane together, in public, still playing hockey, is probably the biggest victory of their careers.
After transferring to the Centaurs, Shane is surprisingly affectionate. Ilya isn't going to let anything change that.

Svetlana, standing closer, swats him on the arm before Shane has the chance to. “Let me meet your boyfriend.”
The word boyfriend still gives Shane a rush whenever he hears it said by someone else. Svetlana, impossibly, seems to notice and winks at Shane. Ilya, for his part, is pouting. “I thought you already had.”

It does mean missing out on things like barbeques and team dinners sometimes, but it’s not as if he would have been able to participate anyway. At this point in his life, risking someone not taking his allergies seriously would mean potentially missing games, which makes it unacceptable. Jackie always makes sure he has a dish or two that’s safe when he’s over at their house, but if he was going to be the one guy sitting and drinking ginger ale instead of taking part in sharing nachos or Korean barbeque or burgers or any other delicious thing he goes in knowing he can’t have anyway, there’s no point in making a fuss about it. He eats at home, has a drink with everyone else, and he calls it a day. Easy. Safe. Foolproof.
But also the reason it doesn’t occur to him that he hasn’t actually told Ilya about any of his allergies until it becomes immediately relevant five days into being at his cottage together.

Rozanov looks away, breathing hard. “Does not matter,” he says. “Forget it. I should go.”
And no. Shane doesn’t want Rozanov to go. He wants to fix whatever is wrong. He grabs Rozanov’s face and turns his head so their eyes meet.
“Fuck, baby,” Shane breathes. “You know how good you are.”
For a moment, he’s taken aback by Rozanov’s expression, until he realises what he just said.

"Shane," Bood says firmly. And it sounds so wrong, because Bood never calls him Shane. Shane is always Hollzy. And Bood's voice is supposed to be loud and steady, not shaky. And Shane finally, finally becomes aware enough of his surroundings to feel the trembling of Bood's hands against his waist. "Shane, please. They're working on him. We need to give them space so they can—so they can make sure he's okay."
"He's my husband," Shane chokes out, not quite managing to choke down the sob that's been building up long enough to boil over. Bood makes a similarly choked noise at that. "You need to let me go. He's my husband."
OR
Ilya gets injured on the ice during Shane's first season with the Centaurs. Shane loses his mind, a bit.
