Will wanted to catch his eye more than anyone else could. Will wanted to be the key to his heart, the only color in the field of pink from rose-tinted glasses. But in every way he knew he couldn't be that.
Mike always described his thoughts as impure, sinful, and downright disgusting. But he knew they were real, and it ate him alive.
But when the fate of the world is near, they can't hold back anymore.

"Until?" Mike encouraged him on.
"Until I got here." He continued, turning to Mike to meet his eyes. "And I smelled your scent."
Or: Due to past trauma, Will doesn't think his inner will ever feel safe enough to fully present. Not expecting his heat to crash into him full force, he goes to see his best friend as he so often does, accidentally triggering his rut, and bringing about an unplanned pregnancy.

Summary
"Last night, the painting... it came to life! He spoke to me and... it was his voice. It was his voice, Jonathan."
It's 1999, and Will Byers is a successful artist in NYC, making ends meet despite the difficulties his lifestyle presents. Only problem? He's out of inspiration and running low on funds, having sold the last of his paintings at a charity auction he didn’t even want to be a part of. So his therapist suggests he paint the thing he can’t seem to let go of, and with that homework he decides to paint a portrait of the One That Got Away.
It's fine, and somewhat cathartic... until the painting starts speaking with the voice of his deceased childhood love. His best friend, painted in the colors that hold all the words and thoughts he could never say.

Summary
