    Summary

"No talkin'," Nicholas grunts, burying into the blanket some more. He tucks his head into Vash's skin, away from the sunlight. "'s too early."

Vash chuckles, pushing his nose into his Nicholas' hair. It smells like… Nicholas. Sweat and sand and vanilla shampoo. Just a hint of cigarette smoke that Vash wonders if he'll ever get rid of.

"Alright." He massages a slow circle with his thumb. "Go back to sleep. I'm here."

    Summary

Without a word, Wolfwood stepped into Vash’s room, closing the door behind himself. He heard the automatic lock engage, the same soft whirr that the one in his room made, but it was quiet, lost under the sound of his own pulse tripping with the way Vash boxed him in against the door.
    “Missed you.”

Maybe it's the honeymoon phase, maybe it's just the thrill of sneaking around. There's something about Vash saying he missed him after only an hour that gets Wolfwood's pulse thumping.

    Summary

What they don’t tell you about surviving a near death experience is that it’s a real shit disturber. You don’t get to just get back up and jump around again like nothing changed. Pretty damn near it, physically, in Wolfwood’s case, but mentally? He didn’t think he was a shining example of well-adjusted pre-death, and dying hadn’t done him any favors.

    Summary

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Kaveh mumbles, without opening his eyes. He’s been reading, too—or pretending to, which is more likely, because the upside-down architectural plans on the table have not moved in half an hour, and his pencil is behind his ear instead of in his hand.

“I’m not,” Alhaitham says, too fast. Which is absurd. Of course he is. The entire point of his visual cortex is to perceive the world around him, and unfortunately, the world currently includes Kaveh. Shirtless. Glowing. Freckled.

“You’re making that face again,” Kaveh says, one eye cracking open, voice annoyingly smug for someone still half-asleep. “The one where you’re trying to suppress an emotion and failing.”

“I don’t suppress emotions,” Alhaitham replies. “I manage them. Responsibly.”

Kaveh snorts. “Oh, is that what the internal aneurysm looks like? Good to know.”

In which Kaveh weaponizes freckles and Alhaitham forgets the scientific method.
