Summary
Despite knowing he liked guys from a very young age, Carter Horton had never really properly liked anyone. If he had, it was superficial enough that he could purge it from his mind and never remember it again.
That is, until his biggest problem and main source of distress in his life was introduced: Alex fucking Browning.
(basically a rewrite of Final Destination except Carter and Alex are super gay for each other because I love a good enemies to lovers. And I changed some of the plot.)

It was old-fashioned, he knew, not to play around casually while you were still greyscale, but Steve wasn't interested in casual. He wanted that swoop in his stomach, and he wanted the world to explode into colours, and he wanted that to be his first and only relationship.

That was a side-effect of the soulmate bond people didn’t talk about much. It wasn’t just that you had to tell the truth when you spoke, there was this compulsion to speak: To answer every question, say every thought. You had to physically keep your mouth shut or the truth would leak out anyway.
He supposed it meant that there were no secrets between soulmates, but there were some things—like the fact that Peter being curled up in his mom’s blanket, flushed with fever and cuddly, was one of the cutest things he’d ever seen—that wouldn’t hurt to stay in Tony’s head.
