Summary
Buck spirals and Chimney seethes. Hen plots. Ravi quietly retreats. And Eddie? He isn’t really there. He plays the good soldier because that’s what he knows how to do. He doesn’t sleep, doesn’t eat; doesn’t fight or cry or care. He died when Christopher left with his parents. His body just hasn’t caught up yet.

Summary
He’s the calm one. Always composed, always in control. He’s not the guy who crumbles, let alone in the middle of a shift. But something inside him has broken, and Eddie’s not sure it can be fixed.

Summary
Eddie’s terrified. The weight lodged in his chest has shifted to complete and utter panic. His skin is hot. His eyes are burning. There was once a time when he’d say, I do not panic, but even that was a lie. Eddie panics a lot, actually. But he’s been taught how to manage it, how to make himself Jello, how to bring himself back to reality.
But this reality is what’s panic-inducing, and he can’t Jello himself out of this one.
Because he’s not scared for himself. Eddie’s killed men before. More than four at a time. Eddie’s, objectively, been in worse situations than this. Eddie’s been shot and stabbed and buried.
But he’s never been in a situation like this, with a four-year-old who means the world to him, a four-year-old who’s Buck’s son.

Or - Eddie takes Theo to the mall. The trip does NOT go as planned, when robbers infiltrate and they’re forced into a hostage situation.

Summary
Buck shifted like he was about to stand—like he was about to leave—and something primal and terrified ripped straight through Eddie’s chest.
“No,” Eddie breathed, sharper than he meant to, his hand shooting out and catching Buck’s wrist with more desperation than strength. “Don’t—don’t go. Don’t leave me.”
------
Eddie’s greatest fear is dying alone — a reality he’s brushed up against more times than he cares to count. His second greatest fear is telling his best friend that he loves him. When a building collapse traps him beneath the wreckage, he’s forced to confront both fears at once.Bookmarked by dreamtheft

Summary
But right now, as he is alive, laying underneath Buck in the hospital elevator. This could be it. He could bleed out, right now, despite Buck’s insistent efforts to keep him stable. He could utter the words on his lips and feel his soul chase him to hell, but with Buck’s hand on his cheek and eyes locked on his own, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tonight, he is alive.
“Buck,” he stutters, low and whisper-like. He blinks back at Buck, kneeling over him, the raw blue of his eyes and the soft pink of his lips.
And the red, the red he feels in his chest as they lay beside one another. He squeezes his hand around Buck’s, as he looks him in the eyes with all the focus he can muster.
“There’s nobody in this world I love... like how I love you.”
OR, speculation for 9x18 post eddie getting shot, and he gets trapped in the elevator with buck as he bleeds out (he lives I swear)
