“Rachel?” Julian’s voice was croaky. “You should be in bed,” he didn’t move.
“Yes,” Rachel already knew her father wouldn’t make her go to sleep, so she scrambled onto the armchair. No use leaving now he knew she was there.
Rachel noticed the chessboard sitting between them, and her eyes lit up. She had no idea how to play but had watched her father and his friends play before, so it couldn’t be that hard. She could figure it out.
She began putting all the pieces into place while her father looked, saying nothing.
“Your move,” she said once she was done. -

Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.

Summary
“We do not say anything about the Hollander situation,” LeClaire tells them even though it sounds like he’s already resigned to what he knows is going to happen.
After all, Roz gets extremely mad whenever it’s brought up. Not that Cliff can blame him, he’s pretty sure that Roz liked Hollander before this (wouldn’t chirp him half as much if he didn’t). Finding out that he’s such a bastard must sting.
Not to mention that Roz does not mess around with people that disrespect girls. Or women. Or kids. Or dogs. Or the elderly (excluding Scott Hunter). Or really anyone, if it’s for petty stupid reasons.
“Of course,” Cliff agrees for both of them since Roz is still too busy texting someone.
It’s apparently not good enough for LeClaire because he asks, “Roz?”
“Just one second,” he answers without raising his eyes from his phone or stopping his typing. “Need to get my Jane to agree with something. She’s very stubborn.”
Or. My take on the 'their text leak and now everybody thinks that Shane is an abusive bastard' premise. Featuring Ilya giving a presser, Marly realizing in real time who 'Jane' is and the internet reacting to the craziness.

One very long Valentine's Day changes Remus's whole perspective on his future.
"Today’s mischief had been solely Remus’s brainchild, and was still a secret from the other three Marauders. This is why, at 3 AM on February 14th, he was hiding under James’s invisibility cloak and sneaking back into the Gryffindor Common Room.
All this to say that he did not intend to eavesdrop on James and Sirius’s very private conversation at three in the morning. Of course, he didn’t intend to, but sometimes one must put a color charm on the entrance of the Great Hall to charm everyone’s robes hot pink for the day, and on the way back to bed, one happened to stumble across one’s two best friends discussing none other than … oneself.
“I think I might die if I don’t get to kiss Remus soon,” Sirius mumbled.
Remus, under the cloak, paused mid-step."
