Summary
Once, nobility existed to protect the common folk. After a hundred years of warfare, nobility only existed to use those beneath them to increase their power. Nobles were selfish and were incapable of seeing past their own egos. There were very few exceptions to the rule. General Iroh seemed to have been cut from a different cloth from the rest of his family, or had learned the hard way how to be a decent human being. Prince Zuko was confusing, to say the least.
Recovery is a process that one cannot go through alone. It is not a weakness to accept help from others; accepting help is the only way to truly heal.
As Zuko learns how to adjust to life at sea, his crew learns to care for their banished prince.

There were three things that Katara was certain of:
1) The Avatar was real, and very much alive given that she was tied up on the back of his flying bison
2) There may have been a chance that her father lied to her about why she was taken to the fire
nation when she was eight
3) She needed to get back to her brother as soon as possibleor
Katara gets discovered as the last waterbender in the south pole, but instead of being killed the fire nation they pay the Dai Li to do their mind fuckery and she ends up being adopted into the royal family.
Her life is pretty good, until Zuko gets exiled, and she offers to travel with him under the excuse of 'working on her waterbending to use it against the water tribe'
She doesn't really believe in the Avatar, but she's willing to go along with it for her brother's sake. At least until she's accidentally kidnapped by the Avatar himself, a water tribe warrior, and a northern waterbender princess, who also accidentally help her figure out the truth about her past, and that her amnesia might not have been caused by a concussion after all...Also Sokka is hella down bad for Zuko but is too stubborn to admit it... oh and Yue's there too

He inhales deep, feeling the warmth he's known all his life mend some of the aches inflicted upon him by the ice and continues with renewed strength: "Let me tell you of the White Lotus."
Hundreds of metres below them a large orb pulses with faint blue light in the rhythm of a heartbeat, the orb and all it contains slumber deep beneath the waves just as they have for the last ninety-eight years and just as they shall for many years to come. The wheel turns, the world spins on its axle, the winds shift as the tides swell and the sun sets on a world without an Avatar.
With the last Airbender still missing, the lives of a Waterbender, an exiled Prince and a great Warrior continue on in his absence.
Soon their inextricably intertwined paths will collide and when they do the entire world's future will change in ways neither Spirit nor Sage could've predicted.

At the age of 10 after Ursa disappeared, Ozai attempted to assassinate Zuko so that Azula was the only heir, the perfect prodigy princess left. Unexpectedly Zuko survived that attempt on his life and revealed himself to be spirit touched by an unknown but certainly a Great Spirit. In the wake of that incident, Zuko escaped to the Earth Kingdom and barely survived the hasty escape. A few weeks later the Prince was declared as deceased by the Firelord. Zuko was everywhere, from the Northern Air Temple to the Ba Sing Se where he fought against many enemies. But he was not alone — he met a fellow royal, Yue, banished from her Tribe because she wanted for the women to be taught combative waterbending. Sick of being used and living in ignorance, the pair decided to live in their own way.
