Summary
Vriska coughs, glaring at Kanaya for blowing the dust right into her face. "Well?" She demands.
"'Well' what?" Kanaya counters, not even looking away from her translation notes.
"You know damn well, 'What!'" Vriska snaps, scanning the room again; as if in the last ten seconds the enemy had managed to infiltrate their weak, temporary base and she had any hope of protecting herself. "Is it the right book or not?! What does it say on the record-card?"
Kanaya is silent a few more minutes - then her body tenses and her eyes narrow. She holds up the card and reads it aloud:
"'The recovered Final Journal of the esteemed Professor Jake English, Master Hunter of the Unknown and respected member of the Arland community. He died to warn us - in the end, it just wasn't enough.'"
((all journal entries are written and revised - however, this story will only update as the journal entries are discovered in the series's main story, "Trivial Fursuits". think of it as a horror game: you know how it begins and you know what ended it, but the middle of the story is what REALLY happened.))

Summary
Grace and Rocky are on their way to Erid when they encounter a strange terrestrial vessel that has somehow made its way to space. The single occupant is alive and Grace and Rocky rescue him, but they are then faced with the challenge of gaining this stranger's trust and dealing with the contamination he brought with him.

“I just want you to live!” Grace threw up his hands in exasperation “Is that so wrong? Is that so hard to believe?!—” he lowered his hands and quieted his voice. It took enormous effort. “I just want you to stay alive, and I need you to just sit still so you don’t die.”
The man’s expression dissolved from roiling rage to bafflement. There was something else too though. Grace could see cogs spinning behind the man’s eyes. Something about that answer had stuck.

last read ch8, me: [reads chapter 7] hold on i gotta look something up [looks it up] ADRIAN WHAT DO YOU MEAN SIMON IS GRACE'S TESTOSTERONE?!?! im in love.
ahem anyway; simon and grace FINALLY have a VERBAL conversation AND grace finds out that simon has been using mars-years to calculate time and age! FUNNIEST PART TO ME WAS SIMON SAYING "so what's thirteen in mars-years" IT WAS SIMON THE GUY WHO SAYS HE ISNT SMART OR GOOD AT MATH MOTHERFUCKER AAAAA this author really is amazing, 10/10 millions of notes (affectionate); the two had a genuinely productive conversation, grace realizes /he/ isn't a pedo, simon realizes why grace was so fucked up after they fucked (sidebar i really hope simon can let them use a softer surface next time grace really shouldn't be having floor-sex), and grace /also/ learns EXACTLY how simon killed his victims, vis a vis a bomb that wasn't supposed to kill anyone but did (and simon went back to try to stop it after he found out it was going to kill people, which makes a world of difference to grace that it didn't make to simon - or, like, anyone from the quiet rapture)

Slowly, they get to know one another, despite Simon potentially being a war criminal from a moon with an ocean full of blood.
