It’s taken weeks and weeks of work and raw, ugly communication to bridge over the hurt, guilt, rage and grief, to slowly rebuild the wreck of their lives.
And now, she's here, at the edge of her world."
In which Maelle returns to the Canvas after reconciling with her parents, but sometimes reunions are messy, and things rarely remain the same. Also she notices the very unexpected friendship between Verso and Gustave.

Summary
“Of course, you are more than welcome here, for as long as you’d like.” is Emma’s instant and smooth reply, delivered with an effortless aplomb that is well-suited to her Chief Councilor role; there’s no hiding the sharpness of her eyes, however, that intelligent glint that speaks of veiled suspicion and careful calculations. “Any friend of Maelle is a friend of ours.”
As expected, Maelle is more than ecstatic by Emma’s easy acceptance, but her mood quickly plummets when she spots Gustave’s less-than-thrilled expression: if looks could kill, Verso is pretty sure he would be lying in a pool of his own blood by now, but after some uncomfortable staring the man just scoffs and looks quickly on the side, cheeks flushed by what Verso can only presume is a good dose of barely repressed anger. “...Sure, whatever. If that’s what Maelle wants.”
(After making a promise to each other at the Canvas' edge, Maelle restores Lumiére to its former splendor, and Verso tries to live his life in it as simply and unobtrusively as possible.
Too bad that Gustave absolutely hates Verso's guts, and Verso's blossoming feelings for Gustave are of a complete opposite nature.)

"Machine." He brings a hand near the hilt of Justice, voice slightly raspy. "You—"
It beeps and waves its hands back and forth. It points at its back. Mimes shooting a gun. An extremely loud incorrect buzzer plays as it makes an X with its arms in what, to Gabriel, seems like an unusually human display of panic. His grip on Justice loosens.
Huh?
"...You don't have your weapons?" It nods. "Why?"
It shrugs and grabs a fishing rod.
