Summary
When Song Lan confronts Xue Yang in Yi City, Xue Yang makes him an offer he can't refuse: Song Lan moves in. Xiao Xingchen stays ignorant (and happy). Nobody has to die.
Three in a coffin house becomes four. This is, it turns out, not an easy adjustment to make. Xue Yang discovers that Song Lan moving in means living with Song Lan. Xiao Xingchen's reunion with his dear friend isn't going as smoothly as he'd hoped. Song Lan realizes that Xiao Xingchen has built a life without him in it. A-Qing is pretty sure everyone here has lost their minds.
But they're going to make this work. Or die trying.

Might finally get to magically blast somebody into oblivion, too. If he's not killed by an evil wizard first. A heist, a love story, a fairy tale.
OR: Xue Yang, former child rogue turned (potentially) powerful magic user is just trying to not only learn to control his raw powers, but monetize them, when a job gone wrong for Meng Yao connects him with bard Xiao Xingchen and his lover (and bodyguard), monk Song Lan.
They make him an offer he can't (is too intrigued to) refuse. It doesn't even matter that it involves getting into the cross-hairs between two evil, powerful wizards, because Xue Yang can always just save himself (and the gold pieces he's earning).
Except... He's kind of starting to like Xingchen and Song Lan? It's a problem.

"Xingchen got held up at work, but he said you have an important appointment at 3pm. He asked me to take you. Ready to go?"
Xue Yang sneers. "Do I look like I'm ready for any appointment?"
Song Lan feels a coil of red-hot anger spread in his chest. That's what he gets for being a chump, for wanting to be selfless and for believing that Xue Yang cares about this relationship between all three of them. This whole "appointment" was probably just some plot to get Xingchen's attention.
Song Lan agrees to take Xue Yang to his dentist's appointment. It might just change their relationship.
