Akito Shinonome is a dedicated knight of Luminis, Crown Prince Toya's bodyguard and one of the youngest soldiers to survive the frequent and fatal monster raids. In a world where you're doomed to die too soon to achieve much in life he decides to tell Toya exactly how he feels about him, and when the prince returns those feelings he feels as though he's fallen into a dream.

And then it's stolen away, and when Akito wakes up in modern-day Japan with no memory or recollection of this strange new life, it's like the world has ended.

But then fate sends him three of the closest friends he could ever hope to meet, one of which is his prince--and though the path ahead of him is riddled with thorns and mistakes too big to simply brush away, all Akito can do is try to survive again.

Akito always struggled to make ends meet. Especially after Ena left him with their dad. Known as an elusive Phantom Thief, Akito stumbles upon a wealthy musician's house, where he sees the most beautiful man he could imagine.

Could there be something blooming between the lonely musician and a troubled thief? Were those feelings mutual? Would Toya even notice someone like Akito...?

That's where everything starts with a small gift on the bench in Toya's garden...
