Summary

This is an exploration on Draco's foray into adulthood and his bumbling attempts at navigating friendships, relationships, familial burdens and coming to terms with the dual legacy he feels he must uphold.
It would have been easy enough if Hermione Granger wasn't the fulcrum upon which his world rested on.

Summary
He glanced around the Potions lab and his eyes caught on Granger. The interior was gloomy, as always. Dimly lit in a way that sometimes made it impossible to make out the words in their textbooks. The room severely lacked any charm, but did have this absurdly curved window that allowed some natural light to peek into the dungeon. It was that moment that she moved her body just so and the light from the window reflected off the myriad of ingredient bottles and onto her. Every freckle, every small insignificant detail of her face, was now lit with hundreds of refracted colors.
She comes in colors everywhere.
Draco quickly looked back at his work table, silently tapping the beat to the Rolling Stones cover he had discovered that summer.
He needed a way in with her. She was unfathomable to him at this point.

“Alright,” said Pansy. “Then we’re still stuck. How do we divide three rooms between three girls and three boys?”
“You share with Ginny. Blaise shares with Ron. And then Draco and I can share,” said Hermione easily, scrolling through the phone at the rest of the property images.
Pansy’s attention snapped to Draco so fast, he almost jolted at the impact of it.
“Oh?” She said with pointed interest. Draco shook his head minutely at her and her brows shot up. She turned back to Hermione.
“Why you and Draco, Hermione?”
“Well it’s such a lovely house, it’d be a shame to pass it up just because of sleeping arrangements.” She glanced up, perhaps sensing the underlying emphasis in Pansy’s question, and met his eyes. “You don’t mind, do you Draco? Or I could share with Ron if you’d rather be with Blaise?”
“Don’t mind a bit.” He sipped his tea, the picture of nonchalance.
