Cloud didn't ask to be sent back in time by the planet to fix all it's problems before they started. He certainly didn't ask to be de-aged into a literal child. Cast back through time by Gaia, and turned into a toddler by Jenova, Cloud is having the (second) worst day of his life. So it makes sense with his luck that he would be captured by a red-haired SOLDIER First and brought directly into Sephiroth's clutches. But that was fine; he'd dealt with worse odds before (he really hadn't). He would simply have to find a way to escape and continue destroying Jenova and every Mako reactor. No one could stop him escaping if he didn't want ... Zack?

Summary
Cloud, anticipating the end of the world, instead wakes up crammed into a body not his own. Or maybe it is his own—just tiny and enhanced and, oh yes, primed to be some kind of mind-controlled assassin. That wouldn't be so bad, if not for the fact that he'd arrived just in time to be imprinted on his handler like a baby duck. And even that wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact of who his hapless, unintentional new handler is: Sephiroth.
Good thing every single one of them is flying blind through this mess.
