Trillian interrupted him. “Where are you?” she said.
Zaphod raised both sets of eyebrows and paused with his hand in his hair. Usually she indulged him at least a little bit.
“Well hey,” he said with a grin. “You finally ratting me out to the press, kid? How much are they paying you?”
“Where are you?” was all she said again.

When they came to, it was cold.Neo noticed this first, before all other things- before the inky black darkness enveloping them and before the deathly silence ringing in their ears and before the sharp pain digging its claws into their left leg. All these things they noticed in time, too, but none of them were quite so disconcerting as the cold.
They struggled achingly to their feet and looked about themselves at all the nothingness of the frigid pitch. It seemed to look back, glittering with the phosphenetic lights of a recently sustained head injury.
Something had gone terribly wrong.

Camp Triggerfish's annual Spring Hullabaloo is the biggest, most widely renowned music festival this side of Inkadia, and for their 50th anniversary, they've brought in some big guns! Wet Floor is on scene and eager to play - nothing like rocking out and also getting the freshest breath of mountain country air, right?
Looks like the next week should be pretty easy. You know what they say - if the zapfish are willing and the creek don't rise...!

The ‘oh’ is because he almost runs into Warabi, who has for some reason decided to halt suddenly at the last step.
“Eep,” says Warabi. They lean their head back to look at him, piercings jangling again, bumping their head against his stomach. “Hi,” they smile up at him. “We have an issue.”
All Ikkan can say in response is “…mm?”

Two days after their first contact—and more importantly, their first words—Grace sets up his thinking machine to speak.
Rocky does not need the assistance of a machine for Grace’s language. It is ugly and harsh to listen to, but it’s relatively simple to learn. That, and, well—Rocky was alone for a very, very long time before he met Grace. He maybe hangs on to each word a little more than strictly necessary. Grace only needs to tell him each word once for Rocky to know it forever.

"Rocky did not understand human names and titles when we met. Eridian names longer, give information on Eridian's home, associations, skills." For the first time in ages, he positioned two of his arms together, forming the design that Grace thought of like a family crest, a single design bisected.
"You should teach me to read those before we get to Erid, so I can be polite." As Grace considered the linework, already picking up on some vague ideas from the shapes in Rocky's carapace, something else occurred to him. "So… I picked 'Rocky' because your outer shell looks like stone."
"And for inspirational story of athlete who defeats human system of poverty to become great champion. Eye of the tiger."
"Retroactively, yeah." Grace bent at the hips, getting to Rocky's 'eye' level. "So what'd you name me?"
