All of this to say: Piracy looked good on him. So how he found himself just barely managing to stave off an untimely death from dehydration on a shit-ass, sail-less dinghy he merely dismissed as God’s continuing punishment for the most errant of his ex-Catholic bastards.

“What?” Cora-san immediately startled back, barely missing a beat as he tripped and fell on his ass. “Law, of course you’re free,” he said, face and voice much softer now. Except what he said wasn't true, not if he couldn't ask these questions. Not if he couldn't know why it was his life had to be like this.
“Then I want to know!” snapped. “I want to know the Will of D. and I’m going to find out.”
There was a moment where all he did was glare at a stunned looking Cora-san. At least since he fell he didn’t have to look up at him. He didn’t have to look down either, because even sprawled on the ground the tall asshole could meet his eyes.
And then suddenly, that shocked expression twisted into a downright sappy smile.
“Well, how am I supposed to say no to that face?”
