Luffy misinterprets a goodbye kiss towards lovers as the same thing to do with friends.
In which Luffy gives Law a brief peck in the lips in the middle of battle, leaving the man himself in shock, the marines around them stunned, the straw hats themselves bewildered, and even the entire world in whiplash as the newscoo spreads the word and picture around hurriedly like they've never done before.
(In another corner of the Grand Line, two brothers scream in rage.)

Summary
And between one second and the next, Ace's hair and the front of his clothes are suddenly drenched in alcohol. Sabo's shoulders stiffen where they're pressed against Ace's, and Luffy makes a clear sound of disgust and flicks some of the liquid off his fingers.
The man’s face is red with rage and possibly humiliation, his left eye—the one Luffy hit—squinted, dripping bottle clutched in one hand. "You little shit," he growls, and takes a menacing step forward.
Sabo buries his pipe into his gut.
It all descends from there.

Summary
The Revolutionary Army finds out that the Gorosei is after Luffy, it triggers Sabo's memories which leaves him to go and get Luffy as soon as possible and as stealthily as possible. Of course, Luffy doesn't argue this once Sabo has proven he's in fact the same brother who died. Now they just need a place to lie low, resulting in Sabo calling Ace (or the WBP and requesting to speak to Ace) explaining, followed by a reunion and the realization (for the WBP at least) that Ace is the sane brother.

He closes his eyes and never opens them. Ace goes insane burning Akainu when he tries to come back to finish the job. Marco is eventually the one who gets Ace to leave, wrapping him in his flames and letting him rage.

Summary
Garp thought he was quite brilliant when, in an effort to discourage Ace and Sabo’s ambitions of piracy, he gives them custody of his new baby grandson. After all, the two might have been teenage delinquents, but even they wouldn’t actually go out to sea with a baby in their care, right?
Hint: he is very, very wrong.
(An AU where Luffy is born 16 years after Ace instead of 3, and Sabo remains with Ace on Mt. Corvo instead of trying to set sail on his own.)

“It’s called amnesia,” Dragon tells him, voice deep and slow and calm, but Ace’s head is still spinning regardless. “Nothing we’ve ever tried has broken through the memory loss, but- there’s always a chance at recovery. Especially with exposure to familiar things from before the inciting incident.”
Sabo shifts, a subtle slide of his weight from one leg to the other. He’s anxious, uncertain, trying not to show it. Ready to bolt at the slightest surprise, whether that’s a thug jumping them in the trash heaps or a tiger leaping out of the trees.
“You don’t have to stay,” Ace tells him, dully, the words coming out in a fog. He doesn’t need to make Sabo wait with him. He doesn’t. He’s spent ten years missing his first brother, but Ace has made do, and he isn’t about to force someone to stick around if they don’t know him, don’t have any reason to care-
“I don’t have anywhere else I need to be right now.”

Eventually, right about the time they’re leaping over rooftops in Edgetown, Sabo gets ahold of himself enough to explain, all of it, starting with his shitty noble father showing up, agreeing to go with him to protect Ace and Luffy, but then the Bluejam crew keeping them as Sabo walked away and now there’s going to be a fire and he doesn’t know where his brothers are doesn’t know if they’re safe or okay or what-
“We’ll find ‘em, brat,” Garp rumbles, his grim tone somehow reassuring. “And then we’ll get all three of you back on the mountain, where you’ll be safe. Where you belong.”
