Summary
The Winter Soldier wakes up in a theater with strangers. Only, they aren’t strangers- not all of them. He knows he knows the man with the blonde hair and blue eyes; from a time Before Hydra… though that couldn’t have ever existed- he is a weapon, nothing more.
The Avengers and The Winter Soldier watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier shortly before the events of the movie. This is a rewrite of “Avengers’ Watch the Winter Soldier (New Version)” and is crossposted on fanfiction.net. If you find it anywhere else, it shouldn’t be there.

Remus Lupin centric- based off of the Marauder’s years, and how their friendships were formed into a brotherhood. Remus Lupin is scared, small, and sickly, Sirius Black is critic, tall, and emotionally damaged, James Potter is concerned and somewhat stuck- up, Peter Pettigrew is young, not evil as of yet, and a good friend.

Sometimes, Gabe wonders what he would be like if he was alive. He wants to know if he would play football and live for Friday nights and his coach would clap him on the shoulder and say, “You’ve got quite the young man here,” to Dad. Or maybe he would be in theater, and Natalie would be embarrassed and proud to come see him perform. He could be in marching band. He’d like to learn to play an instrument, like Natalie.
But he’s not alive, and he doesn’t play football or an instrument. He doesn’t act or sing on stage. Dad has never patted him on the back after a job well-done and said, “That’s my boy.” Natalie hasn’t rolled her eyes and yelled at him for embarrassing her in front of her friends.
It’s okay, though. He has Mom. Mom, who loves him and sings on his birthday and says his name. Gabe doesn’t think he could ever love anyone as much as he loves Mom, but maybe he’d know how to if he was alive.

He figures that he might as well make the most of it, try this whole 'do better' thing. Not starting a man-hunt after a little girl named Charlotte is as good of a place as any to begin.
